Is the GOG version updated? (I don't have this game)
I see on Moby's release page there were patches to at least v1.07a

Maybe GOG:s support would be a better option?

I remember having a tabletop game like this, and it probably had a pc version, like you recall. The name escapes me now, but I might find it later. There is a list of human life simulators here, meanwhile: https://www.mobygames.com/game-group/genre-simulation-human-life edit: the game I had was call...

You could also look at the Megaman series? (even though the protagonist is a robot)

Note that the link had some similarly tagged groups mentioned in the description, like for Ancient Romans etc. They may have similar settings though not neccessarily Greek.

You did not mention the time period when you played it nor the platform, which if known also helps narrow things down.

Good you found it, it seems the older Avernum saga (7 games including Blades plus some smaller modules) is sold on GOG now.

A demo of the Blades of Avernum is at the games official page here:

It does seem more like an RPG to me, with an NPC party, monsterfights etc.

This is a list of RPG:s from 2002, you can select other years, most likely earlier since your game came in some bundle with many others.

I checked my 'library', it turns out I only had three issues from that Komputer magazine: #9, 10 & 13 from 2001 - and I could not find your game in those.

(I have more PC Gamer magazines, but it's still a needle in a haystack to find)

If it was just a playable demo, it's possible it was never released, and in that case it would not appear on MobyGames website.

I still have a few of their magazines (in Swedish) so I'll look to see if there was something around those years that might fit.

The only FPS games I can recall with explicit russian content is 'Specnaz' and 'Specnaz 2'; not sure if they match what you seek? They are more like later CoD etc. (modern) games, not WW2 like Wolfenstein Castle. There are some youtube recordings of the second game, which I have not played. https://...
