Something keeps bothering me here, when you used MSDOS mode restart, didn't you have to input EXIT at the dos prompt to return to win95 so you could shut properly down ? Now, yeah , it's a long time I don't use that 95sucker anymore. Just was wondering about it. No you don't need to. Just turn off ...

BASIC! (in its various manifestations: GWBASIC, QuickBASIC, BASICA, Visual BASIC, Atari/C64 BASIC, etc.) Reason: because it's what I learned when I was a little kid, and I grew up with it, and thus it is my personal programming language. Started with ADAM SmartBASIC, moved on to GWBASIC/BASICA, then...

I wonder how many people make a subconscious judgement about a member based on his post count? For some people (including me to a small extent), it's an instinct to have a higher opinion of someone who has a high post count over someone who has one much lower. Opinions are taken more seriously, resp...

You managed to get over 500 posts in only about 4 months. I'll congratulate you there. It took emmzee, the owner of this forum/website, a lot longer than that. And since we can't see you, you're pretty much equal to the rest of us in that regard. It would make no difference even if you lo...

Even so, doing something like that probably wouldn't have much merit: If emmzee decided to give somebody 25,000,000 posts, it's obvious that it would be fake, and there would be no reason to be happy about such a high number. If emmzee decided to give somebody, say, 320 posts, he'd know it's fake ev...

Linus Torvalds recommends KDE, therefore KDE is pretty much the official GUI of Linux/X-Windows, and the poor 486 will have a hard time running it, if it even runs it at all. Pentium III or better with 256 MB RAM strongly recommended for KDE use. The 486 may be able to run a lighter GUI, but don't f...
