Main PC: AMD Athlon XP 2400+

DOSBox: Intel Pentuim 133

Your poll had no AMD options?!? :wow:

I mean, really... I can understand forgetting Cyrix, but AMD is Intel's main competitor!

I still end up having to use CPU killers and RAMDisks to hobble my DOS Box enough to play my favorite oldskool games... Don't even ask what hoops I had to jump through to get Pirates! Gold to run... Thank God for MS-DOS v6.x and the DOS Configuration Menu . No more stupid Boot Floppies cluttering up...

Issue Resolved...

Fortunately, the guys over at Wing Commander Revival knew exactly what to do... My system had too much EMS memory allocated for Privateer to run properly. By adding "8192" to the EMM386.EXE line in my CONFIG.SYS, the issue was resolved. The digitized audio works just fine now. T...

Wing Commander: Privateer/Righteous Fire (MS-DOS) Sound

This is really getting on my nerves... The game runs fine, the music plays just fine, but the digital audio sounds like my sound card is giving birth to a hippopotamus. Wing Commander II runs perfectly fine, as does WC2 Special Ops 1 and 2. I've tried using Sound Blaster PRO and Sound Blaster 16 for...

If you're talking about the original DOS version, then yes, you have to install the game from floppies. HOWEVER... You might as well not even bother, since Pirates! Gold for DOS has certain issues that make it impossible to play on your system. PG was a huge experiment by MicroProse in coding and de...
