The only 8mb SIMM's I've seen personally are MAC non-parity. PC's didn't see many of them in parity, 4 sure. 16's I've seen, but they could all fit in one hand. Some will also require that the PC be unplugged when you do the reset. Usually the ATX boards have this feature. Those who turn off the PC with an external power strip/device don't have this problem.
