Glad to see the other half still wants to talk DOS. You may find some others like GAMER and Checkmate worthy adversaries.

Is that "floozix" or "flowzix" for your handle pronounciation? Can we lovingly abreiv it to Flix? :D

The only 8mb SIMM's I've seen personally are MAC non-parity. PC's didn't see many of them in parity, 4 sure. 16's I've seen, but they could all fit in one hand. I have a few 4mb sticks, currently in one PC and my Turtle Beach sound card. I'll see if any are hiding. Did come acrossed the TX1000 Radio...

Unfortunately, slower. Standard RAM runs at the mem bus speed of your PC. The ISA slot RAM will never be faster than the ISA bus. Nominally that's ~8 mhz. You can boost that 10-35% in the BIOS/jumpers by adjusting the ISA "clk/ x " setting. (I've noted that in the hardware topic on boostin...

Have you actually checked the voltage on the new bat? I've found a few bad ones, new in the package. Can you describe the exact "complaint" message your PC gives? Non-sequitar: CR2032 and CR2025 bats are interchangable in many cases. There is a slight thickness diff, but the diameter is id...

I've just had a look in my oooollllldddd disk and here there are a few that it appears would be OK to pass around as freebees. PM me and we can discuss them. I don't want to get the site in trouble. Maybe DosGames could put them in the library of they check out copyright free/open.

Just 4 Grins?

Just For Grins (c/o Langa.com) With all the recent talk of worms, Trojans and viruses, reader Leo Scot sends along this chestnut. Great Geek Poetry

Found on Langa.com (excellent geek site!) OOPS! Double-check your URL, As we all have heard before. You ask for an invalid filename, And I respond, "404." Perhaps you made a typo -- Your fingers may be sore -- But until you type it right, You'll only get 404. Maybe you followed a bad link,...

Cool and Quiet in General

I found this little article in the recent Langalist news post: 1) Cool--- And Quiet! (Part One) Hi Fred, my cooling fans seem very noisy - I would guess a common complaint - but others I have heard in shops are WAY quieter. Why the difference? ---David [from Canada] I know exactly what David means. ...

Somewhat true, but some gains have been seen in the ultracool area without changing speeds. It's possible the effect had to do with more than the CPU (i.e.: was the whole computer cooled or were other chips supercooled as well as the CPU). I haven't read the technical data as deeply as I could've si...

Some will also require that the PC be unplugged when you do the reset. Usually the ATX boards have this feature. Those who turn off the PC with an external power strip/device don't have this problem.

I don't mind the forum count. Info the world over lies dormant, only to be hot beans at some future date. DOS Games is about games info and all that goes with it. Trading games seems a part, even if a bit slow now. Is there some sort of big wish to see alot of action on these "slow" topics...

Classical, Rock, Pop and Mood music were played. Plants grew towards Classical and Mood. Away from Rock and Pop. Interesting that the music bouncing...
