Cool drawing! Looks like my kind of game, though I don't have any guesses offhand. It does look like a graphical roguelike (something like Castle of Winds ) or one of many early RPGs similar to but less graphical than the Ultimas Do you remember if it was turn based (you move, then they move) or rea...

Hm, Return of the Jedi was that diagonal scroller kind of a game.

Here are some others, though I got them from C64/Atari lists - some may have dos variants.

Blue Max
Desert Falcon
3-D Skramble
H.A.T.E.
Havoc
Leviathan
Panther
Sigma 7
Zig Zag
Zylogon

That could also be something like a track laying puzzle game, or a "get to the train station" game, and the final success screen might be the "train successfully drives into the sunset". Or like a civilization game, where you can see extra little cut scenes that aren't really rel...

Glad you found it! Thanks for letting us know. Sorry it wasn't up to the grand memories! You might try it under Amiga or AtariST emulation if that's an option for you; I think some games turned out to be a lot more fun on those platforms when I went back to them. Looks like the Dos version was a por...

Was this more of an action "shoot everything in sight" or an adventure "talk to everyone" kind of game? Are either of these similar to what you remember? Or how are they different? The Great Escape D/Generation Happy to (try to?) help, and the more info you can recall and describ...

I don't know about black & white, but the best action game made with that isometric perspective has got to be Crusader:No Remorse & No Regret.

But there were lots of isometric games going way back. You might try a list of those.

Sounds like a cheap knock-off of TES1 Arena. :)

When you say 3rd person, do you mean "from above" like Diablo / Torchlight, or do you mean "over the shoulder / butt-in-face" like Tomb Raider / Console RPGs?

Glad you found it! I was going to ask what the current exchange rate of Australian years to American or Euros are, but didn't want to derail any actually helpful comments. ;)

I've looked at CyberDogs a few times, but haven't tried it yet - glad to hear it's fun enough to have great memories!.

In the old days (and actually more recently, too, though I'm not sure the latest versions of windows will let you do it directly) you could still draw anywhere on the screen, not just in your own window. Basically you told the drawing code that "the desktop" was your window, and it worked....
