Ubisoft began in France in 1986, founded by the five Guillemot brothers. Although it began as primarily a French game distribution company, it quickly began making deals with international companies like Sierra On-Line, Electronic Arts, and MicroProse to distribute their games as well. Today, Ubisoft is one of the largest and most well known video game publishers (especially after several high-profile acquisitions) with franchises like the Assassin's Creed series and the Rayman series being top sellers. Being originally a French company, Ubisoft has a strong presence in the French-speaking Canadian province of Quebec.
