Original archive (takatron.zip, 1,034k) - The main download file above (DOSBOX_TAKATRON.ZIP) is pre-configured to work DOSBox. This file, takatron.zip, is the original and may require installation / setup.
Takatron is a Robotron-inspired shooting game with a Lion King theme. Yup, really. The author describes it thusly: "Take control of a bizarrely laser-powered Simba: destroy the Takatrons, save the Lionesses, reach adulthood and defeat Scar to take your place in the Circle of Life." It has bright flashing colors and crudely rendered Lion King sprites to shoot. Unlike the original arcade game, here you only shoot in the direction you're moving, so killing things is a bit trickier. However your opponents are generally easy to kill. Definitely a unique game ... (Note that this game runs slowly in the web browser version of DOSBox, try running it on your own system locally for better speed!)
