OK, I have DOSBox installed and working properly(I notice thats a common theme here, haha)-problem is, I can't even install the games. When I try to click run, to install Dangerous Dave I get a 16 bit MS-DOS Subsystem error thinggy that says: "This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose 'close' to terminate the aplication."

I have a brand new lap top (Inspiron 1420), with Intel core 2 duo processor, 1.8 GHz, 1Gig(wanted 2, but they screwed up, oh well, I'll live), Intel Integrated Graphics Media Accelerator 3100, 160 Gig 5400RPM, Vista Home Premium, Integrated High Definition Audio 2.0

It, so far, isn't a problem of playing the games, its a problem installing them. please help.

Thanx.

Do you run dosbox in a window?
Also take a look there:

Nope-doesn't help me-I'm the only user, and thus, am the admin on my comp. So that doesn't help. And that post is about getting to play the games, not installing them, they aren't installing, and until they install, I cant even try playing them. Thanx anyway though, maybe Vista Home Premium just cant install these games for whatever reason. Sad

That's the whole point.
Vista's basic dossupport is only for special recovery,servicing, sytem maintenance ...such progs.
That you are on an admin account doesn't give you extra basic dossupport.

So you must run the games install-setup-things-whatevers IN dosbox.

*Edit

Downloaded from dosgames.com.
No problems whatsoever in running it in dosbox_Vista.

Or maybe, *maybe* you ain't that much admin on your Vista as you thought ..... ? Try once the howto for restricted ones.

*Editē
Run the install IN dosbox:

Here we go again ....

Shocked

Now yeah, as you want.
But you could also put a minimal effort in it, and try to get something running in dosbox. The readmes are usually a good starting point.

You can't expect that those ol'games will run with one click of your mouse as the modern Wingames.

If that little effort is too much, stick with Wingames or buy a console.
But you're missing thousands -(yes, thousands)- of good downloadable games.

What games?
Install how?
You can't click 'on games' in dosbox.

If you want help give details:
What hardware?
What OS?
Begin with asking help for ONE game.
Post ALL you did, detailed.
Post ALL your mount lines.
Post ALL your inputs to run the game.

Alright, so I followed what I could of that link you sent me, however, when I try to install, I get "Illegal command: Install." message. I can input the whole "cd temp" and it accepts that, butnot the install command.

Oh, and when I try to extract the files to dosgames\temp folder, I get a pop up that says
"Do you want to copy this file without encryption?

You are copying the file to a destination that does not support encryption."

I of corse say cancel, cuz the installer doesnt work without the encryption. (the origional game I was trying, and having a prob installing was Dangerous Dave, but I like Commander Keen too, so I was trying that one next[figuring maybe it was just DD that was somehow messing up] when this pop up started.)

I know, and normally I would, but it is kinda hard to find the time with a newborn to take care of. I can only work on it at night, and I can't stay up too late b/c I am a single Mom, so no one but me can be up with my boy. It would soooo be worth it if I could get this working.

Download DD from http://www.dosgames.com
You will get ddavega.zip.
Extract to c:\users\your_name\dosgames\dd\
In folder DD you must have 3 files after extraction:
1-> DAVE.EXE
2-> DSCORES.DAV
3-> EGADAVE.DAV

Run dosbox, if you followed the link I posted it should start in C:

cd dd
dave

That's it, no install nor setup needed, simply run dave.
IF needed change game speed IN DOSBOX with
CTRL+F11 -> slower
CTRL+F12 -> faster

BTW: Runs flawless.

Yean, I kind of felt like an idiot after I realized that last night, haha. I just wanted to compicate matters for myself.

If you don't mind though-do you ever have problems with getting games into the temp folder? I keep trying to get Pronce of Persia 2 in there, but it keeps saying there is:

"An unexpecten error is preventing the operation. Make note of this error code, which might be useful in you get additional help to resolve this problem:

Error 0x80004005 unspecified error"

Doesn't matter where I try to extract it to-it wont work.
