I'm thinking a bout an old shooting game. You had a space ship, and the first level was driving over open land. It was quite pretty actually.

Your spaceship was pretty static, e.g. not moving except around the screen, not in depth...

Kind of hard to describe?

The boss was a centipede (flying) and the name of the game started with an x or a z or one of the last (ish) letters.

The second level was a cave.

And...the final vague remembrance...

You moved by moving the mouse and clicking to shoot.

Any ideas?

I was gonna say Xargon, but then I remembered the Xargon was side-scroller, and the game I was *really* thinking of was Kiloblaster, which doesn't start with any of those end letters. I do, however, think you should check it out. It's by Epic (or Apogee... I can't remember), but it's a space shooter.
