Post subject: Aliens A Comic Book Adventure with DOSbox problem |
|
|
| Hello, I'm new here and I need help. I'm not very knowledgable about DOS. I have Windows XP. Anyway the problem I'm having is last night, I installed DOSbox and then installed ALIENS A Comic Book Adventure game. Everything worked fine and I was able to play the game. Then I wanted to get the window larger. So I read about going into DOSbox.conf and changing the fullscreen line from false to true then saving. So I did this and it worked, the window was full size. But then when I tried to play the ALIENS game I got a message that says hooking interrupts and nothing happened. So I went into DOSbox.conf and change the fullscreen line back to false and saved it. I tried the game again and still get hooking interrupts message. Can someone help me out please? I really like this game. |

| Try re-installing. And next time to get fullscreen, just hold down 'alt' and press enter. |

| Thanks for trying to help me. I tried reinstalling the game and when I tried this, it said could not locate disk 1. Then immediately it took me to setup for the game, where you select soundcard options. After this it said type aliens to start game and then hooking interrupts came on again. I think the problem is for some reason the game isn't installing. I did everything the game instructions said. I think it isn't installing before it takes me to game setup. I don't know what to do now. I guess I'll have to try again to reinstall windows 95 and other components on my old computer. But that is another story in which I ran into problems before. |

Ask where you got the game .......?
Or you could always try to run the game in VPC2007/W98SE .... |

| i get the game original, on CD, it was in a shop at liquidation, i payed 3 euros for it, i think may be the problem could be that the game looks for the hard disto where to install for himself and if its not mlounted on dos box too it dont work, i have to try mounting C disk entirely before installing |

| Isn't it ctrl f8 to further increase speed. Almost everytime I use dosbox I press ctrl f8 exactly 10 times. |

No, that's frameskip, the worst you can do, it makes the gameplay 'jumpy', as in a slow slide show something.
In other words: instead of a continously refresh of the screen dosbox 'skips' frames. |
