Hello, recently I re-discovered a copy of Alone In The Dark (CD) in my attic and thought "Hey why not"

Ok first with XP home edition on its own.

It installs fine, and can be played, but for some reason its impossible to get sound and my character cant run (As far as I know this can be fixed in DosBox by upping the cycles.)

"Ok fine" I thought "I'll use DosBox" (latest release.)

So I load up dos box, mount c c:/dos mount d d:/ -t cdrom

cd Dos, cd Dos\alone, cd dos\alone\indark, indark.exe

load it up and then... black screen of death, any suggestions?

You may delete what you've done t'll now and start from scratch.
Meh

First of all read and apply this to set up dosbox correctly :
http://www.dosgames.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=5443

Now mount your CDdrive in dosbox:
mount d x:\ -t cdrom
replace x:\ by your real cd drive letter under windows.
Go to your CD in dosbox by typing:
d:
type
install
Install in c:\aitd in dosbox
set your sound params as described in the how to link.

In short: (I assume you did follow the how to *sigh*)
To install:

mount d x:\ -t cdrom
d:
install

To play later:
mount d x:\ -t cdrom
cd aitd
indark
