Prince of Persia review done right.

Post by eViL bOrIs I »

*Sigh* Prince of Persia.... The game that got me started on the road of gaming and taught me how to spell the word "Prince" when I was 3 years old because it was (obviously) in the good old days of DOS when people actually had to type stuff.
Never has a game enraptured me in the same way PoP did, and still does. Never since has a game combined flawless platforming, epic sword-fighting, and mind bending puzzling. Those were the good old days when games actually forced the player to try, not succeed, try, not succeed, and then try all over from the beggining again. The game could be beaten in under an hour, but I highly doubt that anyone has ever beaten the game without spending at least 10 hours on it.

Prince of Persia is the game that revolutionized the PC gaming world, a world that had until then been running on mostly tried and true formulas and RPGs. It was the first game ever to have motion capture, and the sheer realism of the Prince's movements still have not been equaled by any game to date. Just for trivia's sake, Jordan Mechner used his brother for all the motion capture. The fact that the game is still easily playable and equally easy on the eyes is a tribute to it's greatness. I can't think of another game that has stood the test of time this well.
There have been quite a few impersonators, from a Zorro game to the games own 3D sequel, Arabian Nights, but none have captured the feel and fun of the original.
It is also pretty safe to say that, without Prince of Persia, games like Tomb Raider and Devil May Cry may never have come to be.

Simply put, Prince of Persia is a landmark and was a turning point in gaming, and without it, who knows where games'd be today?
And my soul from out that shadow shall be lifted, ah!, nevermore.

Sadly, eViL bOrIs, that was a lousy review compared to your Game Hippo ones.....

By the way, the Liquid War review didn't seem as well put together as your others.

Yeah, well, GH was a "Review review" and this was "just another message board review".

Note: "good"

So far, there has only been one good review.

This one, however, would never be added, as it's not a review of a game on this website.

*Sniff*

IMO, my review of Tyrian was pretty good. It is now lost in the depths of IBB, I'm afraid.

Cool. I'll try to review some more, then. Are there any specific games that you want me to review?

Any game on the website is okay. Don't strain yourself, though, Emmzee appears to have been too busy as of late to add any...

Yeah, don't take it as seriously as Game Hippo, but write some that are better'n this. Emmzee is a college student, anyway, and he doesn't have the time that Boson does.

Could be... looks a bit like French and in French, "gay" means "happy". It's not French though...
