I'd like to play Return Fire. I don't know if this works on DOS or a later system.

When I run the .EXEs that came with Return Fire in XP, it says "Return Fire is not compatible with Windows XP"

So I found out about DOSBOX. I used DOSBOX for the first time today, and mounted the Return Fire folder as a virtual drive. I go to that drive and run one of the .EXE files (there are couple and I don't know which one I should use, one is RUNME.EXE, the other is RFIRE.EXE), I first get a message that says the game won't work unless I have drive Z: free (which I do). I press return, then I get a message about who stripped and released the game and command prompt returns to Z:, nothing happens.

When I run the other EXE file (RFIRE), it says "This program cannot be run in DOS mode"

How do I run this game?

I was very excited to have found this old favorite game. I had the best time playing this with my cousins and want to re-live that experience. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!!

Return Fire is a Wingame, dosbox is completely useless for those.

Also it's not NT compatible, you'll need to patch it, if you can find a patch....

Or click right on RFIRE.EXE and go to compability tab, set W95 compability and check all the boxes.
With a bit of luck it will run, or not, depends of your hardware.

BTW do you have the full game (CD) or a downloaded one?
