Add: file extension? ISO?RAR?ZIP?

If those questions are too hard to answer: buy a console to play games.
Certainly downloaded ones.

....... Or ask where you downloaded the game.

Listen friend, I can't help you with anything if you don't answer those questions.

Post FULLY and CORRECTLY what your mount lines are.
What is the file+EXTENSION you downloaded?

If I ask those questions, it's for a reason.
I don't have a crystal bulb, and can't guess the answers.
And I need them to tell you how to proceed.

BTW, you say you use your desktop, that's bad to begin with.
You need a FOLDER, read AND APPLY the XP-dosbox readme.

Now in fact I have a crystal bulb, but it's full time connected to the female neighbour's bathroom. And NO Larry you won't get the channel, it's mine.

[EDIT]
BTW, ISO is a cd image file. Can also be a nrg, cue, ccd, whatever, I need to know.
Your download can be any of those, or a RAR, ZIP, EXE, whatever.
I NEED TO KNOW THE FILE EXTENSION, really.
AND YOUR DOSBOX MOUNT LINES.
READ AND APPLY THE XP DOSBOX README.

If you have problems:
Be so elaborate and precise as you can.
We only can help you if YOU give detailled info.

What happens when you double click on part1.rar?
Does WinRar opens and shows you what's inside the archive?
If yes:
Extract the contenue to
c:\oldgames\temp\
and post what file(s) you have in c:\oldgames\temp\.
->RAR files are archived-compressed files, you must uncompress them to be able to use them.

If you can't extract the file(s) in the archive you're screwed.

About dosbox: DO NOT USE DESKTOP.
Create whilst in windows:
c:\oldgames\
Your mount line in dosbox to mount your C will be:
mount c c:\oldgames\
c:

[edit]
WARNING!
If the file inside the RAR file is an ISO file DO NOT double click on the ISO file, but extract it as ONE (1) big file to c:\oldgames\temp\.
