Post subject: Problems with Magic Carpet plz help |
|
|
i loaded magic carpet on dosbox and the keys to select your weopon are the number keys 1,2,3,4... etc you can press left/right mouse button at same time to get to a weapons menu... when ever i press a number key or left/right mouse together the game shuts down and goes right back into dos |

Don't press them together then..... it's a specific Magic Carpet related problem.
I don't have Magic Carpet installed right now but I thought you could change the keyinput somewhere and disable the 1,2,3,4... input. |

Try with the dosbox keymapper first.
Hit CTRL+F1 to access it when dosbox starts up.
Tough it can be a bitch on a laptop keyboard sometimes.
Now yeah, laptops sux anyway for gaming.
Oh yeah, if you're on such weird crappy Mac you must be fullscreen or keymapper won't work.
That or use in your shortcut
\%whatever%\DOSBox-0.72\dosbox.exe -startmapper
Don't add the %whatever% ....
Trial and error will be your destiny.

Nope, I have -(*had)- the original CD, and when it was installed I ran it from the harddisk, I simply copied the whole CD to HD , to avoid jerky spinup cddrive time, had no problems. So no copy protection.
Hmmmm, now that I think about it, soundsetup was SB I thought, if I remember swell. And run with 'carpet.exe' in the carpet dir, not the one in the base folder, or something ... whatever, try things out.
-(*had)- : One of my kids must have it now ..... damn kids. |

Have look it up, correct settings are:
Sound source: Soundblaster
Music: Soundblaster 16 FM
Sound I/O: 220
Sound IRQ: 7
Sound DMA: 1
Accept: YES
Dosbox 0.72, freshly installed, nothing altered in dosbox conf.
BTW, if you have a joystick or gamepad you can select them by clicking on the right side of the setup screen (that big book, yes). |
