Post subject: Old 2d space game! HELP [=Solar Winds] |
|
|
Honestly I don't know the name of really much about it, but I'll try my best. I'm 20 now and I played it when I was probably around 13.... I got it from a "Demo Pack".
The whole game is 2d. It starts out with your ship already being shot at by a (blue?) alien ship. After a sec I think you start talking to him through your intercom thing. He tells you he's from far away or whatever. The map goes on FOREVER and there are COORDINATES to help you tell where you are. If you wanted to you could drift in one direction forever and never find your way back.
Eventually you get this hyperspace? thing that makes your ship go really fast, and you go visit this alien girl from far away. She gives you this cloaking device? to diguise yourself as an alien ship so you can go in their home area and get something?
That's really as far as I got but if ANYONE has any information on this game it would be greatly appreciated. This is like one of the first games I ever played on a computer (old packard bell) so you understand, lol...
THANK YOU. |

Solar Winds! You can find it under Space-shooting games at this site. (www.dosgames.com)
(FWIW, the map DOES have limits... just try traveling long enough - your ship blows up after you go about 6 or 7000 clicks out.) |

Thanks bro, like I said it's been almost 8 years so I never would've been able to guess the name.
That took about an hour to beat lol, any idea where to download Solar Winds 2? Thanks. |

Yeah, I remember when I first played it when I was 9 or 10 years old, it took me 4 days to beat SW1.
Played it last year, finished in about an hour. Once you know everything to do, it's not a very long game. |

Hmm yeah I'd rather NOT spend 30$ on a game that is even shorter and presumably worse than the first one.
Thanks for everything guys, I've been lost in a state of nostalgia since finding this website a few days ago. |

Yes indeed, 30$ is a bit heavy for an older game as SW.
And as the replayability is almost nihil ...... nope. |
