Isn't there a 'setup', setmain', 'install', 'setsound' ... whatever in the game directory?
If yes, run it and set the values to:
SB or SB16
A 220
IRQ 7
DMA 1
And read the stickies in Get Games to Work . |

There is a setup.
In the setup I let it to autodetect the sound card and it detected the exact specifications you gave me. Then in the setup there is a "test sound" button and when I press it there is music playing (so far so good) BUT when I start the game there is no sound in it... That is why I asked King D since he spoke earlier in the thread about sound so maybe he knows how to make it work... |

If you downloaded the game, it's not uncommon this happens.
The soundtest uses a single, small file.
But the ingame music/sound is ripped off to preserve bandwith. |

The game has sound. I now tried to play it using VDMSound and it works with sound BUT in VDMSound the video emulation is bad (the colors are inverted or something like that). This is surprising because Wikipedia says that VDMSound was incorporated in DOSBox. Well according to my new experience with this game the incorporation wasn't perfect. Is there a way to run in DosBox the VDMSound created link?
PS: in the official site of DOSBox they talk about the same problem. |

On Vogons they say that the problem is solved by running loadfix.
So simply input
loadfix -16
at your dosboxprompt before running the game.
[Edit]
And no, you can't combine VDMS and dosbox, can't do that. |

Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!!!!!
PS: it worked only on the second time I ran it but who cares.
PPS: is it normal that dosbox eats up CPU? (I have a core2duo E6300 and it takes 50%) |

Depends, set core=dynamic in dosbox config. Or auto ....
And don't overestimate the powah of a dual core regarding dosbox, it will run on one core only, noth both.
In fact you're (almost) better off with a fast single core on a balanced system for dosbox.
It also depends what's running on the background you see, dosbox fully depends on free CPU power.
So yes, depends ....
On my AMD64 3500+ /XP I run Quake in dosbox with 30% CPU load, on my sons dual core /Vista it's 50%.....
Depends ..............
Try running full screen if the game should lag (ALT+ENTER).

| You choice of output method, scaler, etc could also affect your CPU usage. |

Excuse me I didn't understand that one. How/Where do I choose the output method and what method should I choose in order to reduce CPU usage? |

| All these settings can be found in the dosbox.conf file which you can edit with Notepad. But perhaps you should try one of the many DOSBox frontends instead of manually editing the configuration file. I prefer DBGL, but I know many like DFend Reloaded and others prefer DOG. |
