| I recently decided to play this again. I currently have windows xp and I know this used win 95. I've been having trouble installing this into the computer and so I started to search for answers. I tried using dosbox but somehow I can't get it to work. I noticed that it works for the downloable demos, but everytime I use dosbox it reads "Could not find Game Path" which I have no idea what it means. I really would like to play this and if there are any help, I would greatly appreciate it. I have noticed that I am able to install command and conquer red alert but I don't remember how I did it. I think it has something to do with right clicking and clicking on properties then switching the compatibility to 95. thanks. |

First :learn mounting a dosgames folder as your c:
mount c: x:\folder
Second: learn mount your cdrom as d:, as many older games will only work well if the cd drive is d:
mount d f:\ -t cdrom - usecd 0 - ioctl
the - ioctl is only for XP, under W98/WME use - aspi instead.
Or better: add this lines in your dosboxconfig under [autoexec]
mount c: x:\folder
c:
so your dosbox will startup in your x:\xx folder mounted as C:
And yes, dosbox can be used to install games. I would even STRONGLY advise to install the games you are playing in dosbox to be installed trough dosbox, this will avoid many problems regarding the sound settings and eventually vidcard settings.
If you wish you can call different dosbox configs at dosbox startup, with /without CD drive mounted, with / without EMS, all kinds of configs for fine tuning your dosbox .
Maybe you could start with reading the README included in the download, all is explained clearly there. |

Maybe a silly question:
Have you mounted a C: ?
Is there a kkndins.cfg on your CD ?
If yes , what is in it ?
??????????????????
[EDIT]
Also : only the first KKND, Krush, Kill'n Destroy is a pure dosgame, don't know if the others run on dosbox, doubt it. |

i'm not very good at computers so when i don't know what you mean when you say 'x:\ is your real drive letter ' so x:\ doesn't work on dosbox for me.
what i typed before was:
Mount D D:\ -tcdrom
D:
install
and it says no CD detected |

Take a look at this little Zip-archive. It contains 2 files:
- Run.cmd - A Windows command file to launch DOSBox 0.72.
- dosbox.conf - A DOSBox configuration file with commands to mount drives and install KKND.
Download and unzip into some directory on your hard-disk. Use Notepad to check that the path to DOSBox 0.72 is correct in Run.cmd, and that the CD/DVD-drive mount in dosbox.conf is correct for your PC.
After that, click on Run.cmd, sit back, and watch the magic work. |

And of course Minimax will write you a nice dosboxconf for every game you want to run through dosbox, he's such a nice guy, you don't need to learn the simple basics of dosbox.
BTW, should you need more of those nice files to run your dosgames, there you'll find Minimax, ask him nicely if needed.

As long as it is a game I have, or can get a legal copy of, I will try
KKND was actually bought 2 days ago. Saw it at my local game pusher, remembered the thread here, and decided it was worth a shot.
From what I see, I think I will like it. It looks a lot like Battle Isle which I like a lot. |
