I don't even know of almost all of the newer games. I have never even played warcraft, unreal tournament, command and conquer, counter strike, project gothom, quest for glory, leisure suit larry, surpreme commander, star craft, ulima and many more. I have over 100 atari 2600 games and several of those great games cd roms and unpopular games including strikebase which is a 3d shooting game that is a bit like descent. but a lot funner.

I hear ya, Abyss.

Ever since I sold my Sega Genesis, I've left behind console gaming (I owned a hand-me-down Atari 2600, and a NES that only worked about 25% of the time).

Not sure what it is, but new-school gaming (computer or console) just doesn't seem to do it for me very much (the only exceptions I remember being the two Star Trek games, Armada II and Bridge Commander).

The Wii was a quick little bit of fun with its fancy motion detector (my brother owns it), but even that couldn't hold me for long (and I sure as heck wouldn't pay the $300 for it).

Back when I was about 10 I could play the old games for hours on end. Now these new games, I can barely play them for 5 minutes.

Maybe we're just a bunch of old fogies.

New ones in shops desn't interest me. (Too much 3-D.) Even I've downloaded a lot from 'net, DOS still takes more time and allways will.

As you stated many times, abyss , you aren't so good in gaming, so: certainly forget about Unreal Tournament, you would be crushed every seconde over and over again.

But , you really should try Unreal once, that's a beautifull game, probably one of the best FPS ever. (And it has a real nice COOP mode, much better than anything on UT).

Just a thought ...... Happy

I played counter strike once and i could never beat the first level. I tried multiplayer and i kept getting killed all the time than i go and play atari 2600 games and i get very good scores. I can get over 400 on kaboom and over 30 thousand on pitfall and win at ice hockey or make it down the hill oin skiing or beat super breakout or get really far in dig dug.

Then I go play non atari 2600 games and i am losing all of the time.

That's now exactly why I mention Unreal.
You don't fight against eachother but together against the game, COOP ya know ?
You aren't alone, but with others against the baddies.

And if you are a bit a nice guy whilst playing COOP the others will help you, and you can learn from them.

Please don't even think that Unreal in COOP modus is something as Unreal Tournament, it's another gamestyle. You choose in multiplayer what modus you want to play. There are several pretty good COOP servers always on.

A word of warning: most COOP servers will ban you if you begin shooting other players. Mostly friendy fire is enabled on those, so:
WATCH YOUR FIRE.

NOT Unreal Tournament, LOL, they will wipe the floor with you on UT.

UNREAL , that is not the same game abyss !!!!!

The servers are free.
As for sys req: any decent W98 or better can run Unreal, it's a 1998 game Happy

If you should only have an older version update it to 226f .

UNREAL

I repeat:
UNREAL, NOT ,as in NOT Unreal Tournament. hehe.

Unreal Tournament is only CTF (capture the flag) or DM (Deathmatch) or similar, you must be pretty good player to make a stand on those servers.
There exist mods to convert UT to coop but usually there are only 2 or 3 COOP UT servers online, heavily modded with large downloads. Almost no players in coop on UT.

[EDIT]
A good server to learn is:
ZORA ----UNREAL ---
You find it on the coop TAB under multiplayer, no downloads, the game is unchanged, original gameplay.

Next (but harder to play) is ZORA 225f with custom maps.

You best begin on the original maps, to get the feeling of the game .

I have little to no interest in 3d shooting games. I cannot play games made after 2002. I can play morrowind but it crashes when a lot is going on. I have a old windows video card that has very good vga support and is vesa compliant and i can play nfs 2se and nfs4hs without troubles and they have been known to not work properly in xp especially nfs2se. The good thing about my computer is that it can play some early windows games and some dos games that have been known to not be able to run on other xp computers without dosbox.

So you can't run a 1998 W98 game on your PC ?

Franpa : It's abyss / hulk... We have all accepted that he does that. Go through his previous posts. You'll be lucky to find a thread started by him that is relevant to anyone other than him. My personal favourite was the one requesting Adventure Games, that dissed the classics.

Abyss : Why don't you play Lemmings? This game is nothing like anything you've requested or said you don't like. It is DOS. Try it. Try it now.

I think i will play Lemmings again. That was a great game. Can you play lemmings on the internet and how much does it cost and hoe much does it cost to play one must fall over the icp/ipx on dosbox. Is their coop on Doom as i don't like 3d shooting games all that much and is one of the only 3d shooting games i like. so i will not buy unreal as 3d shooting games are not all that fun to me.

I was playing coop on perfect dark 64 and i was getting killed every time i got a gun and then when i got i gun i was still always getting killed.

I played jazz jackrabbit 2 multiplayer and i was doing terrible.

Then i go play atari 2600 games and i am getting very good scores.I am only good at atari 2600 games.
