That is, who are not believers in the awesomeness of DOS and its ever increasing longevity. With each year that passes you hear people say how DOS gaming is dead and that no one likes those games anymore. That in a fight of Modern games Vs DOS, modern would win, yet if that were true, why would people go to such lengths just to play their old games?

Something that was mainstream for about 16 years (1981-1997) doesn't die too easily.

They tried to kill it with OS/2, then Windows 3.1, then Windows 95.

And finally, Windows XP was supposed to be the final nail in the coffin, because of its NT kernel which doesn't start with DOS.

It's not just DOS, Atari 2600 games and other classics continue to endure to this day.

Game development has become something of a beauty contest nowadays. Oh how many modern game demos did I download, I enjoyed looking at them far more than I did playing them.

But, since I don't own that bloody handheld device... ScummVM DS is of no use to me...

Dos is gaining popularity. Their is no better command line interphase than msdos though. That was the best disk operating system. Windows 3.1 has been been getting quite a lot more popular too. Dos is not dead yet and won't be for many years.

command prompt,dr dos,tandy dos, apple dos, commodores dos, atari dos, free dos, dosbox and many more. I am playing strike base with dosbox right now.

You should check out the supported list on the dosbox site.

I see.... You have tried a multitude of CLI's from the 80's home computer scene. But no CLI that belongs to multitasking, multiuser, enterprise level O/S, supporting 100's of professional users at the same time? Reminds me in so many ways of Plato's story about the prisoners in a cave, who thinks the shadows on the wall represents the real world.

Matter of fact is, that the best OS, and the best CLI, is emacs Laughing

Windows is a lot better than mac. Macs are more stable and reliable but that's it. Windows is a lot better at everything else.

lol. Emacs is completely different that Mac OS.
And what the hell more do you want from an OS than stability and reliability? (And don't say two-buttoned mice, because OS X has always supported them, and they now ship with the desktop models)
