Ok, i've been thinking about this game for like 10 years every once in a while, and i can't remember the name! I'll try to explain it to you from my hazy memories....

The graphics are suprisingly good, you look at the game from a "up-and side" perspective (dont know the right english word).

The main character is like a samurai bunny of somesort, all the characters are very softly drawn and are very colourful. I remember that you operate in a city that is patrolled by elefant-policemen and they beat you if they catch you .... does this ring any bells? Help ;D

Not having played the games I can't be sure, but it could be one of the Jazz Jackrabbit games.

Like I said I have never actually played the games, apart from JJ2 which I didn’t like much, so I wasn’t sure. I just knew it had a rabbit as the main character in it so I thought it might be worth mentioning.

What you're talking about is a 3rd person view, though that style of view is employed by a lot of games so it doesn't help us find what you're after.
