That can also be said as piracy, stealing, or theft. I doubt if anyone here would walk into a store and take a game on the shelf there without paying for it, why should doing it online be any different? | My point exactly. That's why I get mad at people calling Doom or Quake abandonware. It's not, it can still be bought from the copyright owners. |

| just because games are successful, doesn't mean they're not abandonware. It just means that they won't be at a certain abandonware site that is mainly for underrated game (and is probably the most popular abandonware site, as well). |

If a developer/copyright owner doesn't get any money, a game should be published as freeware. Epic doesn't support or sell their classic titles. Unlike Apogee, which offers technical support to games whese aren't sold anymore. |

| I am one the priate side (i am one). If they don't make the freaking game what wrong with cracking it. If they still sold it i would go out there and buy it in a flash, but they don't. The companythat made the game should be happy that even when they don't market the game anymore people are still going crazy for it! |

Abandonware... what's not piracy?
Well, it's pretty simple for me. A) Will the ware run on a DOS-only PC? does the ware build date predate a version of Windows that's still supported?
Any yes here means it ain't piratin'... or even a good raid of anyone's pocket. BUT if you really liked the ware and you use it alot, you should at least send the programer a kudo and a good sub 2-4-1 coupon. |

How many times do I have to tell you guys? EPIC *does* still sell their classic titles. http://www.epicclassics.com/
Most (all) of their websites for the various old games dating back to zzt are still up and running and you can still download (and probably get tech support) for their games there as well. |

Yeah! They've abonded 'em complitely, not even shareware versions aren't downloadable. I knew that before joinin' there. Epic Glassics is the legallest way to get 'em.
Abandonware Ring has a list of games which downloadin's illegal, but you mods don't lemmie to post a link  |
