Post subject: Chinese spam |
|
|
I'm getting a lot of Chinese/Taiwanese/other Far East Asian spam. I almost never get any English-language spam.
They are wasting their time, if I even wanted to buy their products, I can't because I can't even read them (not that translation would be much help either).
Anyone else experiencing something similar in their e-mail accounts? Just trying to figure out if this is normal or if I did something dumb to magnet them.
Thanks. |

| Remember, China has over 1 billion people. Canada and the US only have 300 million combined. Do the math. |

So it's those Canadians who have been sending me all that spam?!
I knew they were crafty with their better level of education, but I didn't know they were THAT crafty! |

I'm not sure that Bob & Doug would be into spamming, unless of course they got a huge contract from Elsinore, eh |

FYI: 1 Billion is not 1000 million its 1,000,000,000,000 Million everyone thinks its 1000 million
Check http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billion for more info
So that means 1,000,000,000,300 is the answer |

Well, if you live in the 15th century or in a French country then yes
that page also says that in modern, Egnlish-speaking countries (and latin America), billion is 10^9. |

| In all English speaking countries (save maybe the U.K.), 1 billion is defined as 1,000,000,000 or 10^9. This is true of Canada (Kazer0's country) and the Netherlands, so Gamer_V is right. |

Pour les français:
1.000.000.000 = 1 milliard.
Voor de belgen & nederlanders:
1.000.000.000 = 1 miljard.
NOTE:
We use the . not the ,
The , is for the decimals.
So for us is 1,0000000000000000000000000000000000000000000 = 1 |

| milliard is an extremely archaic English word for billion... hasn't been used since the 17th century, though. |

It is in use in Western Europe.
In fact probably 75 % ( or more !! )of the people here don't understand ' billion', or even know where it stands fore.
Official ( check it in Vandaele):
1 miljoen=1.000.000
1 miljard=1.000.000.000
1 biljoen=1.000.000.000.000
1 biljard=1.000.000.000.000.000
note:
remark again : we use the. not the , |
