In level 4, is there are smart way to get past the purple ball without having to crash into it? I fluked it once, but on the way back, I lost a Dave.

Actually yes there is

watch where the bullets shoot and then go where the bullets dont shoot.

Its usually where the drop off before the fire is

Timing is critical. That is simple enough, but yet I wonder if there is a trick to make the best use of the 1 or 2 seconds you have to dodge him and his bullets. Something I can keep in mind everytime I try to pass through.

The thing is, Elign, that it's difficult and pointless to try to do so. Just crash into it and lose a Dave. By the end of that level you will have exceeded 20,000 points and you'll regain back the lost Dave.

OK here is how u do it. wait till he passes and shoots twice under u.

Go go go jump accross.

Now on the way back just fall to the bottom bottom and use FLY MODE to get across. the repeat on the way back.

The jetpack.

Don't do that in the Apple II version, because in that version you can't turn of your jetpack. And you won't have enough fuel to get the trophy.
