Hi!
So, you're having trouble getting a particular DOS game running. The first thing to do is read the DOSGAMES.com Frequently Asked Questions page! It's available at:
http://www.dosgames.com/faq.php
It answers common questions like:
- The game runs too fast! How can I slow it down?
- I used to play this game where two gorillas threw bananas at each other ... where can I get it?
- The text in the game is all scrambled, but the graphics look fine. How do I fix that?
... and many more!!
Also if you're running WinXP, you might want to take a look at the "Guide to getting DOS game working in XP":
http://www.dosgames.com/xphints.php
If you are receiving a "RUNTIME ERROR 200": This happens because the game is running too fast on your supercharged speed demon PC. The best way to slow down games is to use MoSlo, a program that slows down DOS programs. You can download it from:
http://www.hpaa.com/moslo/v132/moslo132.zip
To run it, unzip it into the C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND folder. (Assuming Windows is installed on drive C in a folder called WINDOWS.) If you're using MoSlo in pure DOS (ie rebooting into MSDOS mode) you will want to make sure C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND is in the PATH statement of your AUTOEXEC.BAT file. (If you don't know what that means, you probably don't need to do it!
Now go to the folder where the game is stored in a DOS window, and type:
MOSLO /# GAMENAME
The # is a number between 1 and 99 which represents how fast the game will run (ie /50 is 50% of normal speed for your computer, and /30 is 30%), and GAMENAME is the name of the executable (ie the .EXE or .COM) of the game you're trying to run.
Also, there is a program called "TPPatch" that can sometimes fix problems with games that generate Runtime Error 200 errors. It can be downloaded from:
http://www.brain.uni-freiburg.de/~klaus/pascal/runerr200/tppatch.zip
I can't really give too much help with this program, but here's how to work it: Unzip it into the same folder as the game you're trying to run. Then type:
TPPATCH GAMENAME
Where GAMENAME is the name of the executable (ie the .EXE or .COM) of the game you're trying to run. It will spit back some text in German (???) which probably won't mean anything to you unless you know German. Then try running the game to see if that made any difference.
Sorry to edit your post, MZ, but something needs added. When you post a topic, make sure to state, at MININUM, your OS and your graphics card, if you know what it is. Also, the game name and the problem you're having with it.
Hope this helps. Remember you can always post to this forum for more information and assistance. Bye!

Thank you very kindly, Emmzee, for providing such useful information.
If this doesn't help you, create your own topic to ask your specific question(s). Thanks.
