Wolfenstein 3d

Post by kittie »

I think this game is good and has well nice graphics for the time period that the game was release. This game is good because you can kill Hitler that shit ho. Wolfenstein 3D the best at the time and did bring 3d to the age like bobo said it was also one of the reasons doom was made and other games which took the idea of wolfenstein, wolfenstein does give you a chance of shoting bloody nazis which you can see I hate. Wolfenstein takes you from level to level and chapters Killing nazis as you please they sound like they say hotdog. Until you come to the battle with Meca Hitler or something like that, I havent played the game in about a year.

hhmmm... This review is shit. :blah:

Try writing it again, with at least two paragraphs, and not two sentences.

What about the game's graphics? Wasn't it the first game to come out with true 3d graphics and vga colors? What about the saying, "Mother of All 3D Shooters"? What's the story about? What kinda badies do you go against? Just what the heck is Wolfenstein 3d?

When people think of the orgins of the FPS, they think Doom. But Wolfenstein 3D was right there, posing the FPS engine. Wolfenstein had previously been a sidescrolling shooter, so the name for this new version was, quite simply, Wolf3d.

The controls are instantly accessible for anyone. Even if you've never touched a game like it, it doesn't take long for you to feel at home. Move around using the arrows, fire at your enemies, change weapon with numbers. It's meant to be.

The graphics are primitive, but if you think back to its release, not many games reached these kind of '3D' heights. Occaisonally there'll be a bug, but it's nothing serious. Generally, the pixels flow across your screen with good frame rate.

Another great thing about Wolf3D is its longevity. The game spans out over five epsidodes each with a huge amount of levels. It'll take you ages. That on top of the multiple difficulty levels and engrossing gameplay, you'll never want to leave it.

On the downside, there's repetition. First the sound; comments that come from guards only differ as much as the type of enemy, and so the sounds can get tedious. Secondly is, once again, the type of enemies. There is an extremely limited variation, and so you find yourself shooting the same enemy countless times (emitting the same fight initiating cry). Thirdly is the scenary, which doesn't differ much, and so gets very samey.

However, overlook these minor niggles and you see genius. You also have to remember the age of the game, and what a landmark it was at the time. Wolf3D is addictive and fun, so don't miss out.

Graphics
Enivironments can lack variety, but movement is fluid. 7/10

Sound
Extremely repeative shouts, lack of music. 4/10

Gameplay
Set a benchmark for gaming. Inspired later attempts such as Doom and Quake. 9/10

Lifespan
It's as though it never ends. Huge amount of levels and multiple difficulties. 10/10

OVERALL
A breakthrough, a game that will keep you coming back. Shame about the repetition, though.

8/10

Better? :)

It's pistol and door sounds are still best of ye genre. Because they sound real: steel chatters, stone scratches stone. 486 is too fast to shouts. Boss says 'Dundaar!' (phonetically, sorry, can't think it in English) and normal soldiers' 'SwartHoog!'

The big minus is that ther ain't map! Befor thou learn levels, thouloose thy way and run around alt the time.

That's just an addin' comment, not a review.

You're a moderator... and you're spamming... confusing.

As for Wolf3D. I've noticed quite a few people are saying that Doom and Doom II are not as good as Wolf.

Well, I'd just like to say that I oppose that motion. Doom II is one of my favourite games of all time.

That database just has ways to fix game problems. There's a 'description' box but none of them are filled. Am I meant to be filling that 'description' box?
