Well.... that was the original handle I suggested (though I had put down the plural form).Homz wrote:How about D'ger? (i.e. I am D'ger)

Hey! Where's DG?!
"Long before there was ultra-super-duper-128-bit-polygon-video-capture, hardware hype, wEiRd TyPe, pointless game ratings, E3, SCREAMING GUYS in ads, Virtual Reality, cliches like "in your face" and "it's the ultimate", 360 degree roto-scope-rhetoric from self righteous reviewers, CD-this, 3-D that, multi-million-dollar TV commercials tainted with TOILET humor...
...there was fun."

But just try describing yourself as a DGCF (or a GLERFS for that matter) and the raised eyebrows appear. Do "High Performance Automotive Enthusiasts" refer to themselves as HPAE's? It would be very "greek", to say the least. No, they are "rodders" and "racers", and I'm one of those too (1966 Pontiac LeMans 2dr HT, 350ci, 325hp canyon racer). So the point of this forum is: are we simply "computer gamers" or "gamers"? Or would "D-gers" (et. al.) be a better handle?
The test: Fit your favorite choice into these sentences (singular, plural, descriptive noun) and imagine saying it to the coolest people you know with a straight face. If you would be embarrassed, forget it.
Hi, I'm a serious ______.
We are ______ and it's a great life.
Hey, meet my ______ friends.
It's time to _______.
"Gamer" has passed this test for me since my first month of D&D a long time ago. I thought "D-ger" might work and be a bit more type specific. My friends' "computer-wives" have nicknamed us "Trogs" because we disappear into the basement cave to game it up (....I should have included that choice). GLERFS would be laughed at in my crowd (sorry Chk-M8). So, excercise those remaining brain cells for a better handle or we'll stay "gamers" and proud of it.

I suppose we'd be called Kazeros.
Is it pronounced kuh-zee-rows?
Possible chat transcript:
JohnDoe> Hi, I'm a kazero, are you?
JimBob> No! DOS is so old, man! Get with the times!
JohnDoe> Hey, there are still lots of kazeros out there! Don't dis them!
JimBob> Hey, all you kazeros out there! Get a new computer and start playing some new games!
JohnDoe> No way! I like being a kazero!
Dictionary entry:
ka·ze·ro (kzîr, kzr) n. pl. ka·ze·ros or ka·ze·roes
A person who enjoys playing games designed for the Microsoft Disk Operating System or other similar command-line interface operating systems designed for the Intel 8088/8086 central processing unit instruction set.

And it's time to hear that cute Kazer0's jingle again! All together now:
Kazer0's, Kazer0's
The wonderful treat.
Tastes like Cheerios
Made from yaks teet.
You'll love 'em
You'll love 'em
They'll make you beat feet
In 20-40 rythym
To the leetle round seat.
