Intro Screen

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Well, I decided to make a little "Intro Screen". I kept wondering whether it should be TronPac or PacTron? Then as I was making the introduction, the name is more natural with PacTron. If you update the game demo you will see what I mean. The Pac-Man opens the mouth first and there is a Tron that comes out???

hehe

http://www.mediafire.com/download/7pbv2 ... RONPAC.EXE

The link should still be the same however it is updated.

P.S.

To answer you curiousity, I didn't really like the idea of the Guy being trapped in the remake of Tron so I didn't go with that idea. I would rather it be something more loving to the guy!

Well, there are a handful of people that are mods and I am grateful to them. However, sometimes I do things "my" way because I really believe Jesus Christ gave me the talent to do "miracles" like somehow make the graphics look so much like Pac-Man? hehe You be the judge.

We've asked you many times to stop starting your posts with Jesus Christ!hehe.
We've asked you many times to stop posting in places where people need help finding a game which is most definitely not yours.
We've asked you many times to stop reviving old threads with your mumbo-jumbo.
We've asked you many times to use the edit button if you have something new to add to your posts.

It would be nice if you stopped bringing Jesus and God into threads every-time, sure they're your beliefs and that's fine but other people have different beliefs and it's getting irritating that every post is thrown together with a "psalm" of sorts and some actual content.

Perhaps it's time you start doing things our way rather than going off the rails into the sunset all the time with "your ways".

Okay, Wally. I consider you a very cool mod. So for the most part if I could help it I am trying my best to be at least most of the time doing it your way. However remember I am only human. I cannot remember all the rules.

Our rules are quite simple really. You're the only one here that doesn't seem to follow OR remember them so really ignorance is no excuse.
Next 'outburst' you may be due for some time-out.

Next Major Update Released on Sunday

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

The links are the same except they should have all been updated around 3am Central Standard Time today.

In this release, there are some major fixes and additions, which I hope you all enjoy.

The first order of business is the speed stability. They have all been normalized as much as possible right now.

The second addition is an addition of the space invader type spaceship in the upper-left corner. If you have a Sabrent controller, you should be able to use the right joystick to control the spaceship. It is there just for the fun of it. No real good use except as a type of novelty. Since we are including Tron and Pac-Man already, might as well try Space Invader.

Anyways, currently the controllers have been maxed out. You have have up to four people controlling each Tron, Pac-Man, and Spaceship individually. This means while 3 players are playing Tron, the other player can just be moving the spaceship around to relax.

One word of caution, my Sabrent gamepad might have broken down on me. So it might not be a strong game controller for high stress. So take good care of what you have. If not, you can always get another one since they are only 10 bucks.

I could not test out the controllers since I do not have it anyways being frustrated that it seems to have broken down on me. However, I really enjoyed the Sabrent cheap one since it felt natural. It also has the advantage of having a second controller built-in!

So as you can see, in this edition there are a lot of major updates. By the way, if you do not have a controller, everything can still be controlled using the keyboard as a backup.

O-almost forgot, 5-moves the spaceship up, r-moves the spaceship left, y-moves the spaceship right, and t-moves the spaceship down.

There are still glitches in this game like the Pac-Man goes out of boundaries and the spaceship is not aligned correctly; However, I hope to keep improving!

Pac-TRON can now be rescued!

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

http://www.mediafire.com/download/0vy6q ... RRIED8.EXE

Well, little by little this game is starting to have objectives and coherency!

Pac-TRON has just been updated to be a very big project.

It is recommended you get the XBOX 360 controller that plugs into the USB port.

A SONY PSone controller is also nice to play along with another person.

Also you can use the keyboard as well.

In this version the biggest changes are as follows:

(1) 3 players plus computer at maximum for multiplayer game.

(2) Pac-TRON can now be saved by the spaceship using the XBOX360 controller.
Just land on Pac-TRON with the spaceship and press the spacebar.
There is still a glitch however it is a little patch that hopefully comes out.

(3) The SONY PSone should theoretically work for the middle TRON.

If you want practice then just choose option zero.

Fortunately, this has grown so big that you actually do NEED the XBOX360 controller and the SONY PSone controller.

I pray you have fun!

Please talk to Mr. Quadko for the right controller that I am talking about!

Controller routine, etcetera has been updated.

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Well, the menu used to use a purely keyboard function to navigate the menus. Today, I have re-added the updated controller so that you can navigate also with the controllers. On the Microsoft XBOX360 USB, you can now select using button 'A'. On the SONY PSone with the USB adapter, you can now select using the triangle button.

The Pac-TRON escape routine has also been updated to be a bit more logical.

The single pixel missing is fixed.

The spaceship that rescues Pac-Man is now allowed to roam the full area.

You still have to use the keyboard in certain wait screens.

Game concept

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Well, reading through the game instruction may seem a bit complex. However, I will try to break it down.

If you choose to play the difficult way you would just try to pass as many tunnels as possible. However if you want to make it super easy on yourself then just move the spaceship from the upper-left corner onto the first Pac-Man. If you align it right and press the A button then it transport your Pac-Man out of ALL the levels. You complete the game immediately!

If you choose just to test your dexterity and reflexes you can play Pac-TRON to see how many levels you can achieve. Theoretically there is no limits however the speed of updating the obstacles slows with the number of obstacles on the screen.

Pac-Man can stick his head outside of the bounded walls. However the spaceship can still catch him and transport him out and home!

If you have not already seen the light green tunnel along the side of the top or bottom walls well it should be there. The more tunnels you enter the more obstacles eventually show up to block you from moving.

The faster speed level you can reach is 12000; Conversely, the slowest speed you can reach is probably a standstill and a computer locked because it is so slow!

December is coming up and I do not know how much I can do before Christmas. However I hope you all have fun with the little updates. I personally enjoy the quick successes of transporting Pac-Man out right away since I do not have much time to really play.

Summary before December 2014!

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Windows version (really DOSBox pre-pack):

http://www.mediafire.com/download/kvvju ... ARRIED.exe

Eight-thousand lines of coding for this game:
(in Borland Turbo C 2.01 and Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1)

http://www.mediafire.com/view/5ybw819ek ... MARRIED8.C

DOS version:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/0vy6q ... RRIED8.EXE

************
Well, it is a little mini-game. Although I still consider it a DEMO since it is not too complicated right now I am starting to feel it is getting to the point of a mini-game!

If you are poor, you can still control one of the Pac-Man using your keyboard. You can also control the space ship using the R-left, 5-up, T-down, Y-right, and spacebar to transport key.

It is more convenient to use one of the joysticks like the XBOX360 USB controller, however that is if you want to play two or more people...

I tried to give the people who prefer Windows a prepack DOSBox which runs the game right away in Windows in the first link.

For those who want to learn or are curious as to what my coding looks like, the second link is the entire SECRET source file!

Last, for the people who know what they are doing in DOS/DOSBox, is the third link.

This program is graced.

You would think eight thousand plus lines of programming there would be a mistake. Yet somehow the program works!

I still have another forty thousand lines to catch up to DOSBox though haha

Anyways for a small time producer like me it is a miracle...

Keyboard Menu Sensors

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Well, I just updated the DOS version of the game with a new sensor!

The keyboard responses should be very reasonable for the menu system.

You can use the arrow keys which should feel natural to control.

Right arrow selects the option.

Sometimes people use the arrow keys so much that it does not work.

So I made three backup selectors.

The SONY PSone controller with adapter uses the top button to select.

The Microsoft XBOX360 controller uses the bottom button.

If all else fails you could just push the corresponding numbers.

It is hard to judge myself however I have to always be humble. I see there are one-thousand two-hundred eight downloads of my file(s). Whether the people enjoy my file(s) game(s) is another story. Some people are notorious and get a lot of downloads however no one likes the creator of those file(s)/game(s)!

Other people like Taylor Swift are goodie tooshoes who get the popularity votes.

The point I am trying to make is that it is tough trying to create something of value that everyone wants and enjoys for a lifetime!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Updates especially for Windows users

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

If you are using the above DOS version then there "probably" should not be any need to update at this point in time.

However those who have Windows should download it if they want the keyboard menu selection system updated. It just makes choosing an item on the menu more flexible.

However it is just the keyboard navigational system update for the menu.

So I updated all three files today so if anyone is looking for the latest changes you might want those.

Nothing major has been changed except the first two intro screens can be elegantly bypassed using the joystick buttons. Either the triangle button on the PSone or the A-button on the Microsoft is fine.

The game is almost at the point where you can control everything using the controllers. However it is not there yet.

Everything is now automated?

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

All three links have been updated.

Everything should be joystick controlled by now.

It is tested with the Microsoft XBOX360 USB joystick.

It also uses the SONY PSone joystick with the USB adapter.

"1,378
Since August 31, 2014" - mediafire download served.

Wow! I guess that is fine since Microsoft has the world. hehe

I personally do not think Apple, Samsung, IBM, and such are big.

They are certainly some of the big qualities around however not main.

I personally think Apple is classy however "too" classy for me. haha

I should not judge since I do own 1 Apple item that I can see.

I think Samsung is poor quality however it was "cheap".

The amazing thing is I have the Samsung TV on 24/8 and it still works.
(so far)

IBM is a real classic however it overheated on me.
I gave it away hopefully my friend could make it last!

Microsoft - well - it is a give-me since I program for DOSBox.

In fact, I use Microsoft Windows 8.1 as my "developer platform".
It is really versatile and flexible!
Really does the job for me-

2+ games in one pack!

Post by tienkhoanguyen »

Well, some of you are probably wondering if there are any updates?

Today, I have rolled out the updates.

All the above 3 links have been updated.

Just use the same links however the files are should be newer.

The main features of the updates are the included starfields invaders remake

Another feature which might still have glitches is a highscore save system

You should be able to save your highscore now!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you turn off the computer and reload it should still list your scores.

Neat huh? hehe

Anyways, just for personal information it was a pain in the buttocks.

However, very useful so far for playing other family members and such#!!

So to summarize so far:

Pac-TRON is played first. When Pac-Man is saved then Starfields Invaders is played.
