Post subject: 2D 4 player battle royal DOS action game |
|
|
Been trying to remember the games names for year, no luck.
I was on a DOS game spree, and found a bunch of games to download. The game in question was played the game in 2003, I remember it was only the free version.
It was a side view perspective with very simple colored characters. Everything was 2D, the camera was in a fixed position, and each map was displayed in it's entirety all at once (meaning there is no horizontal or vertical camera movements). Up to 4 players could play, all on the same computer keyboard. It was a free-for-all battle royal. There were power ups, and special weapons, and almost the entire environment in each map could be destroyed or dug into with explosives. |

Something like Bomberman, or maybe Worms? |

hmm, yeah my description does sound like those games, but neither of those are it.
I'll try to elaborate a bit more.
It's not turn based, and the view is perfectly from the side. The characters were solid colors and were represented by pretty much stick men. The characters had no animation to them (or maybe just very very minimal, I can't remember exactly) and were really small compared to the rest of the environment. I remember there being ridiculous amounts of blood sprayed everywhere on the map when someone took damage, and I seem to remember there was a blood loss counter showing how much blood was on the field. |

Liero perhaps? Though it does use split-screen, there may have been smaller maps that could load in one whole screen.

Liero has popped up several times in my attempted searches. Liero has a similar style, but the game I'm trying to recall was a bit more basic graphically wise, at least from what I remember. |

Was it a platformer, with ladders and horizontal floors, or was it more freeform "in space" with spaceship/jetpack astronauts, etc.? What did powerups look like? |

How about MoleZ, even though it is a little flashier graphics-wise? |

I've been trying to find Mini War for so long.. finally found it here. The file on dosgamer is corrupt so this is the only place I know in the whole internet, where this game is still available.
It's weird but this simple game is so much fun, and I have fond memories of playing it with my younger brother...good times. In a way, finding such gems offers me a connection to the nostalgic past I would so much want to go back to.. |
