Nice, thanks, I'll have to update the site to reflect their new free status :)

I know that the support for IBLM games is gone, and I am wondering, how come the Island hopper download still runs as "evaluation version" even though the site claims to be offering the whole version for free?

Does anyone know how to get the real full version?

My dear Joman3 I have really no idea what you're rambling about.
All 3 episodes work without any problem.
You must of course select the right episode or play them all in a row.

See? No problemo.

[Edit]
If you still can't select the second and the third episode do a
dir/w and check if ihopper.reg is in your file listing.
When I delete or rename that file I get a 'episode unavailable' for 2 and 3.
c:\ihopper>dir/w should look like this:

That did it, the dir/w. Thank you very much

My DOSBOX was refusing to run Ihopper, and I believe the reason is because the IHOPPER.reg file and IHOPPER.exe have the same name, DOSBOX tried to run the IHOPPER.reg, which obviously wouldn't work.

To make it work I'd changed the name of IHOPPER.reg.
I changed it back now, and though in DOSBOX I still can't run the game by typing "IHOPPER", i can just grab the exe and drop it on my DOSBOX shortcut. And it's working.

Thank you for the help

You're welcome.
:)

However:

That's not 100% normal, indicates that your dosbox and probably game folder aren't installed correctly, means: where dosbox has full-read/write access.
When you input "ihopper" dosbox should run ihopper.exe, not the 'reg' one, that's how dos works.
Most probably an OS restriction.
You should take a look in the GetGamesToWork sub and read how to install dosbox correctly for your OS.
There are OS specific howtos over there for a reason.

PLBM games now freeware

Post by MrFlibble »

Just for the record, the games are still available here:
http://plbm.com/oldsite/index2.htm

This is an exact copy of the old "main" PLBM site, so the pages still call the downloads shareware and have obsolete links to online registration. But the downloads themselves are registered versions.

I've not found any contact info to reach Kurt Dekker and ask if these versions may be mirrored at other sites.

Kurt Dekker seems to have a twitter account, still active in 2023: https://twitter.com/kurtdekker
(The person does looks similar to the pics sometimes seen in the PalmOS game images on the PLBM site)
It also matches with the itch.io profile: https://kurtdekker.itch.io/
