I think I'll let that be a surprise. I hope everyone likes it there. My regards to all my wonderful friends who tolerate and even go far as to acknowledge my crap ha ha...

Watched it, and I must say...

Holy crap dude, your Flash skills have really improved. Very well done, put together nicely, flows well. While I must say I've never seen anyone paint Mario in such a... morbid fashion, I really enjoyed it. As always, keep up the good work. Happy

(And see if you can spread it around!)

Wow, nice. You could probably get this posted on Joystiq or something ... tho I'm not sure Jorrit's server could handle the traffic ... Shocked

Sorry for the double post ... but, as a cat wearing a monocle, I AM THE LAW!!

Ahem. Anyways, I'd love to get this posted on some gaming blogs ... but it might be a good idea to get some mirrors setup first. Maybe if the 3 DOS sites each hosted the file, and we setup a page with the 3 mirrors listed, the traffic wouldn't be so bad even if it got linked by Joystiq? Steve, are you there? Shit-Eating Grin

In 1982, which Electric Arts was a new company, they ran a recruitment ad posing the question "Can a Computer Make You Cry?" Flash forward now, 24 years later, after Wizardry, King's Quest, Final Fantasy, Mario, System Shock, the Elder Scrolls, and all the TSR AD&D games (of which there are too many to name, but Baldur's Gate, Pools of Darkness, and Dark Sun stand out as my personal favorites) that question has been answered a million times by the responses of those who have played games made by EA and companies devoted to creating quality computer games.

And while we here at DGF might talk about fancy graphics, or talk about how the simpler games were better, or talk about replayability, or talk about plot, or talk about the general "fun level" of a game, really, all of that is meaningless without the emotional responce provoked by the game. Now I'm not saying we all fire up the old SNES and start weeping over Mario killing koopas, but there have been and are and will be profound moments when I've been playing a computer game, and the plot and graphics and gameplay and story come together in a way that make me rethink, replan, and even reshape the way I live my life.

Steve Chris understands this emotional bond between the game and the player, and has shown it to us in a very beautiful way, in this movie, and the other movies he's worked so hard to create for our little obscure community. IMO, that level of devotion to a game, an idea, a concept, a religion that tells us maybe there's a better way to live, and that wars *can* be stopped, and peace is ultimately achievable, both internally and politically, is nothing short of amazing.

Thanks Steve.

(and start posting, damnit!)

Back in the day, EA did infact make great games. Unfortunately money has simply gone to their heads and they are now a shadow of their former selves caring more about profits then making the game experience a memorable one, and a worth wild one.

And yes DB that was really well put. I tip my non-existent hat to thee. Happy

Ok ok I'll post godamnit heh heh

Hullo everyone. Your replies are amazing. You people are even MORE amazing!! Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback, not only now but over time. You've watched and supported me through ALL my struggle to improve my work.

And the reason I didn't reply so long is because I didn't want to just come here and say a big phoney "Hey thanks everyone see you later when I post my NEXT movie" I wanted my gratitude for all the appreciation you've given me to be immortal. I've added everyones' id (from dosgames forum) that I REALLY wanted to thank to the final credits section (not your real names to keep your secret identity a secret lol)

If anyone feels their name is missed out, PLEASE inform me at once so I can add you. I've asked Jorrit to upload it to his server but for the moment...

It's at Newgrounds (doing quite well)

Regarding the movie,

Dogbreath, you're absolutely right about what this movie had to say. I used Mario like an innoscent slave to carry out orders from a much higher authority. Mario hated what he did but he was forced to do it anyway, because there was a MUCH higher level of authority controlling him (The mushroom people) When Mario was a baby he didn't know where or to what people he belonged to, so friendship was not based upon race or creed, but love, understanding, and just plain having fun together.

It's the adults (here I used the Yoshis) that know exactly what race Mario belonged to and thus snatched him away before befriending the Goomba. Thus the early discrimination begins. Mario is carried over to the Yoshis, and the Goomba put in the Koopa Troop. They have no choice. Why they do this is simply to keep their own races pure. The top reason why even Hitler exterminated Jewish people. He wanted his country to be pure, a higher Aryan race only. And all he had to do was gather up as many of his own race as possible and become their leader.

And as the discrimination grows and grows, and hideous slanders and rumors of each other are passed, and perhaps a few threats here and there war errupts, and for war there is no end but MORE war.

But wait, Mario still remembers some childhood instances when he WASN'T labelled, or told to hate, and free to do as he pleases. Who did he befriend then? The Goomba, the very race he was supposed to kill. This puts Mario in an uneasy position, and thus suicides, regreting all the damage he's done. In real life, the movie actually ends here. Him going back is a mere fantasy.

The Goomba tries to do the same thing (this is my own personal favorite scene by the way) and gets caught by his higher authority and killed. Mario never even realises he was the same friend from childhood, simply gets up and goes away.

At the end, the black and white photograph like pictures are just a look at the horrible mess the discrimination has lead to. As you can see BOTH the races are equally suffering from war. I'm portraying here the fact that in ANY war there is NO winner!

In the scene where Koopa is fishing and all that asks the question where is all this science and progress REALLY going to in this world? For war and newer millitary equipment, bombs, etc. Great scientists like Alfred Nobel invented and INTENDED the dynomite to help miners blow up caves to mine for valuable resources. But where was it specialised the most? It was made into Bombs to destroy human life. The brilliant Albert Einstein's Atomic theory was used (and still now) in developing bigger and nastier weapons of mass destruction.

Anywayz, I don't know if you saw all that in this movie, but that's pretty much what I intended to show, in my own humble spritey way...

Thanks again for watching!!
