WTF ?
How can you even hate an OS ?
If you're not a complete idiot you don't use what you don't like.
Get real , will you ? |

Simple, Microsoft has done it wrong again. Too much eyecandy and DRM, as well as security "features" which are far more like annoyances. They've also made it REALLY hard to network XP and Vista together. |

No, they have given all the n00bs and yuppies what they wanted.
A flashy worthless OS.
And they gonna sell plenty again.
So that all those graphicwhores can say :
OMG lookz a that bloodz in thatz gamez its fucking az real.
And of course be a big showoff with their areo on their laptop.
The populace get what they ask for.
But hate an OS ? Never.
Avoid it ? Yes. |

Well, if he can't choose a suiting option, he won't vote
Anyway, I'm with dosraider on this one, I don't hate Vista, but I won't use it! Period!
What I DO hate are those fucking "Vista total conversion" shits I mean, why infest your computer with spyware JUST to have XP looking like Vista?
Oh wait... | dosraider wrote: | | OMG lookz a that bloodz in thatz gamez its fucking az real. |

| I voted no, because I have Vista myself.. it's working better than XP in my opinion. And to all the people who are complaining about Microsoft and Windows: why do you still use it, why don't you format your pc and try Linux? I bet you will run back to Windows soon.. |

Nope, it's more to the left.
Euuurh Tinman, I'm almost 52 , and been a great part of my life on teh internet, needs more than that to fire me up.
Your little topic has been done a zillion times already, with every possible OS ever released.
It had better been tittled 'Do you like it or not , Vista ?'.
But hate ? Why hate something you don't want to use ? Simply don't use it, over and done with.
And it wouldn't amaze me that you will be with the first one to pirate it. If you haven't already. |

| I hate xp and vista but i still use xp. I was earlier using a windows 95 with 64 mb ram and 100 mhz and 1 gb hd and no sound card inserted and The power button has to be held down for the thing to turn on and it has enhanced vga and is non svga compatible. The only games on it are jazz jackrabbit episodes 2-4 set and best of windows and windows games that came with early windows 95 and hoyle card games 4,hoyle card games 3 demo and hoyle board games. many utilities on it though. You used to be able to buy jazz episodes 2-4 or 4-6 or 6 episodes or 9 episodes. |

Of course! People in general would much rather have big, shiny buttons to push as opposed to say, a command prompt. I wouldn't say I hated Vista either, though I would say I don't favor it. I don't have the system for it, as well.
Actually, I'd much rather stick to Windows 2000 or some distro of Linux than the XP computer I'm using now. More productivity using less system recourses.
And modern gaming's best appeal more recently than ever is its über graphics and hi-deph capabilities.
Edit: I actually like the interfaces of the earlier editions of Windows better than the newer ones. I have all the extra glamor turned off in XP. |

He was replying to me... and I agree with him 100%. Who cares about the GUI? It takes me 5 seconds to "kedit ~/rofl"
It takes a minute or two to open My Computer >> C:\ >> Documents And Settings >> Richard >> My Documents >> right-click ROFL >> open with -- Notepad.
Another lolarious point is that very few windows users seem to know about the variables... like %userprofile%... tech support workers could save a lot of time.
Consider this:
Situation:
User needs to delete temp files
Tech Support Worker DOESN'T know about %userprofile%
| Code: |
Alright, I'm going to get you to open My Computer, then double-click "C:\". Now I want you to double click on Documents And Settings.
Okay, now you need to open the folder whose name matches the user you are logged in as.
Oh, you don't know? Okay... is there a folder there with your name?
No huh? Hmm... what folders do you have there?
I see, well... I guess we'll have to open the first one.
Is the "Local Settings" folder there?
No, okay, go back and open the second one
Is it there? Still no, eh?
K, try the next one... still not there? WTF.
Oh yeah, it's hidden, you need to enable the setting to show it
...6 hours later...
Thank you sir, have a great day!
|
Now, the same call WITH %userprofile% put to use
| Code: |
Alright, I need you to open My Computer. Can you see the address bar?
Oh, it should be a white bar, probably underneath the row that has the "back" button on it.
Okay, now I need you to type this out...
Percent-u-s-e-r-p-r-o-f-i-l-e-percent.... that's userprofile, one word, sandwiched between a couple of percent signs.
Oh, you just have to keep shift pressed down, then hit the 5 button above the letters, then you can take your finger off of shift.
Okay, now I need you to hit backslash. That's the one that starts in the top-left corner... probably by Backspace.
Great, now just type in local settings, that's two words, and hit enter. Excellent, now just open the Temp folder. Click the file at the top once, then scroll down to the bottom of the list. Now, keeping the shift key pressed down, click the bottom file. Now keep your finger on shift, and hit delete.
Oh, it's above the arrow keys.
There you go, your problem is solved. Have a great night.

Ironically, my PC Helpdesk teacher is under the impression that the other way is easier... not sure how.
sorry about the rant |

Nope. I erased Windows on all my computers. Windows sucks. |
