how do i make a file write only? (this is a continuation of the last Hugo question)

You can't make a file "write only" (assuming you're using Windows, that is). You can make a file "not read-only" (ie writable) by clicking properties, then unchecking the "Read-only" property in the "Attributes" area.

I'm not sure how this will help you with Hugo 2 however; if you post a more detailed explanation of the problem you're experiencing (ex. copy/paste the error message, describe what happens, etc) then we may be able to better help you ...

Well its on all of the Hugos, and what happens is I go to save by pressing F4. it says, "...hit return on the file you want to save in." so i hit enter, then it prompts me to type in the name i want to give it. I do that, then i hit enter again to save, and it exits out of the program.

What's your OS?
Dosbox version?
How you run the game? (All your mount lines)...

I run it through Windows XP, without Dosbox. Regular Ol' dos.

Dosgames+XP=>use dosbox.
Xp (as all the NT ones) doesn't like dosbehaviour.

All Hugos run flawless in dosbox.
