Post subject: I'm looking for this game I used to play at school.... |

I'm trying to find a game I used to play when I was in primary school, so I'm guessing it was released sometime in the 90s.
In the game you were stuck on an island and you had to go around the island finding objects and using them to solve puzzles along the way in your quest to escape the island. I think it was called Isle of Java but I'm not 100% sure. I do know that you controlled your movements in the games by typing commands into a box under a screen that showed what you were looking at on the island, eg 'Pick up match', 'Go west' that sort of thing.
I was in love with the game but I never got to finish the game which was quite disappointing.
If anyone has heard of this game and/or can help me track down a copy of it it would be greatly appreciated |

The name starts out with the same word but that where the similarities end...
The game I remember was no where near as gory! - It was one of the few games we were actually encouraged to play in computer class at primary school.
I don't think you used the mouse at all in the game - to move around the island you typed directions into a box at the bottom of the screen. I always used to get lost and go around in circles because I'd forget which direction I came in! I think at some point there on the island there is a lagoon. I also vaguely remember discovered a red (maybe orange) submarine in a hidden underground cavern (at least i think i remember there being a submarine - people Ive spoken to from school remember the game but not everyone remembers a submarine).
The graphics I remember seem to be similar quality to isle of the dead though if that helps! |

I thought of something else that might help -
It was a 1st person game.
It was released before 1998 (and I am guessing after 1990).
Once in the game you didn't use the mouse and you didn't use the arrow keys either. The only way to control your actions in the game was to type commands into the box as described above.
It was a game played in computer class at school so it was not a violent game.
I could have sworn it was called 'Isle of Java' but it was a long time ago so it is possible that it might have had a different name - anyway, all my google searches on that name have only come up with sites offering me luxury holidays to a pacific island or the history of java script.... |

Was it on DOS or commodore 64?
I remember something vaguely on commodore 64. There was a Red Crab in it.

Ummmm.
I would say Dos because I can never remember actually seeing a commodore 64 ( I started school in the early '90s when the commodore was on its way out...). The computers at my primary school did run dos but I can't remember if Dos was the operating system or if the computers used an early version of Windows incorporating MS Dos. |

I believe the game your after is IsleWarz, it is a shareware game from Soleau Games.
You can download the demo to the game, however if you want a full copy you will need to purchase it from this company. |

Sorry, That wasn't it. In this game, you were pretty much stuck on this one island and on your own. There weren't any armies to help you out, although I'm sure having one would have come in real handy |
