A good machine is something that has a balance of reliability, stability and gaming, and functionality and good for doing work on and being easy to use and windows offers all of that. Macs are hard to use, have little functionlity, bad at gaming and not very good for doing work with. If you want a machine that is stable and reliable and easy to use get linux. Windows is still the best though. Msdos used to be the best but windows stopped puttig it on their systems and sorry but i still don't really know what emac is.

I think you don't understand, Win's reliability and stability and FUNCTIONALITY are nothing compared to Mac OS. according to Sophos and Apple.com!

I for one can't argue to "hard to use" since I didn't spend too much time on a Mac, but from my 15 minutes, I can say it doesn't take a rocket scientist to work on a mac! As for little functionality, what functionality are you interested in? video/sound processing? or maybe just a simple text file? Tbbbbbth!

Bad at gaming? Pft, it's not mac's fault it's platform is UNIX-Based(which makes it more stable and secure), the facts are that game makers just don't bother to port their games to Mac OS, since a huge part of the games market is occupied by Windows.

Also, I would like to know if you actually set eyes on and used a Mac, Abyss... Sarcastic

I don't understand you abyss. You want a computer that is stable, functional, and reliable, yet you think Windows is the best. You worry about adware, spyware, and viruses, and yet you still use Windows.
You love archaic OSes that really have no practical use unless you're a hardcore programmer.
Why, pray tell, do you like DOS? To play games? DOSBox still does that quite well. I really don't see much more "practical" (gaming is not that practical) use for DOS or any other proprietary OS. SERIOUSLY. We're moved on as a society. Refusing to let go of the past will ultimately leave us staying there.

My favourite os is and always will be a windows 3.1x and nothing will change that. It used to be windows 95 but i find win 3.1x better. Windows 3.1 is the most stable and reliable windows and can go on the internet,You can do buissness work with it,word, a better paint program, Easiest to use and with the win 32 application you can play 32 bit games and it can run on dosbox and dosbox can ran in dos. That proves to you that dos is the best thing around.

You can do a lot more than you think with dos.

The only real use of running win 3.1 with dosbox is if you have a windows 98 and higher.

Internet fo win 3.1 does not work on dosbox. But it does on qemu or virtual pc.

Even though I don't have much experience with a Mac, I'd say that I like it better than Windows. Like Worm o' Love had said, it is more immune to malware, which is a good thing. Not that Windows is a magnet for it like people like to think, just that it's much easier to get malware in Windows than in Macs. I wouldn't really miss the gaming factor that much, because the only modern or hardcore game I can really stand is Unreal Tournament. Having a Windows partition on your hard disk could solve that. For DOS gaming, just use DOSBox or maybe even an old computer.

If Apple would be more popular and the winning platform for which all the games would be made, that would've been the major target for exploit seekers and malware makers, thus making windows the overly popular underdog and apple the hated crappy billion-dollar user-system. So this conversation is pretty useless if you ask me. If you want gaming, go Windows. If you want a few specialized apps, go Mac. Sjeez.

And this movie still is funny. Crash differently.

ForYourInformation:

You can have internet access in W 3.11 via VPC. (it uses a LAN bridge via your host PC).
You can even have full Innet access in Dos via VPC, easily.

And you can (yes , indeed) still have internet access in plain dos and W3.11 ......... there are still programs for that.

But it's easier via VPC, you only need to setup a LANbridge.
