Why do I have the feeling that the win95 video is an old TV commercial that was done when Win95 was released?
Oh and from what I see that game looks like Terminal Velocity(there's a DEMO on dosgames.com ---> space-shooters)
Oh and checking some alternate titles for that win98 video....
You must keep in mind that Win98 was a GREAT hit when it was released, and it true-it crashed a lot but so did win95 |

Another great windows 95 video.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbj8kMvQDfI
A video that shows just how terriable windows 98 is.
Windows 95 is a great operating system but Windows 98 is a terriable operating system. Can someone please tell what game their playing shortly after it says start playing on the windows 95 video |
Windows 95 is a piece of shit, Windows 98SE was one of the best OS’s ever. Nice and stable, a huge range of games played perfectly under it, much more then Win95 that’s for damn sure. |

You're correct with Windows 95 Original and Windows 95 A.
However, Windows 95 B is fairly solid, but Microsoft didn't publicize it very much, you had to buy a new computer around 1996-1997 in order to get it. Also it was never available as a Windows 3.x upgrade.
Windows 95 original: Crashed like drunk drivers on a racetrack
Windows 95 A: A service pack that helped a little bit but not enough
Windows 95 B: Really good, IE3, solid
Windows 95 C: Same as B except that it had some future Win98 features that slowed it down a little. People complained that Windows 98 was taking too long so MS gave them 95C to tie them over until 98 was released. This one is extremely rare.
Windows 95 B was originally supposed to be called Windows 96. |

Well there you go, you learn something new every day.
My other PC is a hybrid of Win 98 & Win 2k, it's not entirely one OS or the other, so, I'm the only person in the world (Or the only person I know of) that has Win 99. |

I know there is a way to fuse together Windows 98 SE and Windows 95, the program 98Lite can use Windows 95's EXPLORER.EXE and retrofit it to Windows 98 SE. The benefit of that is reduced Internet Explorer integration, hence a bit of a speed boost. Therefore, it's a cross-breed of Win98 and Win95.
But how did you inter-breed Windows 98 SE and Windows 2000? The two of them use totally different kernels and designs, although both use WDM drivers.
Windows ME was an attempt to cross-breed Windows 98 and Windows 2000 (Windows 98 core, Windows 2000 look and feel).
Are you using NT 5.0 Beta? Or Georgia Beta? What exactly is it about? I'm curious. |

Honestly, I don’t know, my trust old P3... Actually, it may have been a P2, but a very late model one so it was fast, or, I dunno, anyway the processor broke, I think a few other things were wrong with it as well.
But anyway, my dad being the tight arse that he is, rather then pay to get it fixed he gave it to one of his buddies who’d do what they can when they can, like 6 months later, we got it back with a piece of shit ass slow processor in it but at least it worked I guess.
Though now about all it’s fit for is DOS gaming, you can’t play any kind of video or audio media on there as the playback jitters, it can’t handle anything much higher then midi. |

The fastest Pentium 2s and the slowest Pentium 3s were about 99% identical.
Both of them had 512 KB of HALF-SPEED L2 cache, both of them used 0.25mK transistors, and both of them used 100 MHz buses.
The Pentium 3 wouldn't see a big improvement until Coppermine, with 256 KB of FULL-SPEED L2 cache, 0.18mK transistors, and a 133 MHz bus.
An upgrade from a Pentium II 450 to a Pentium III 450 is almost no benefit at all. The Pentium III 500, 550, and 600 only benefitted from more MHz since the Pentium II was stopped at 450.
So in essence you started with a Slot 1 machine and ended with a Slot 1 machine. Both of them being equally obsolete today, even if you were able to reach the 600 MHz limit you wouldn't be that much better off. |
