THIS DOES WORK WITH INSATLLING NOTHING JUST ALITTLE TRICK
ok i will admit i'm new to this and this is probly been done before, but this is how to play crusader no remorse plus other dos games with no programs or dual boot i was told crusader would not play on xp, so this is how i did it this will also probly work with alot of other dos games with alitlle tweakin, first u need one of them media readers on your xp computer and a san Disk memory card, like for a digital carma u can get one at wal-mart aleast one with 256mb and your xp recovery cd, which mine is a emachine W288 SP1 anyways make sure your san disk memory card is plugged in the media reader port and that your media reader is booting on startup can be turned on from setup bios , ok after all of that is done put in the recovery cd and restart the pc should come up to two menus 1.restore xp or 2. access command prompt. you need to do the second one access the command prompt ok now put in the crusader cd now change to the cd directory and hit install, when it ask you the destation which to install which is normally c:\crusader you need to change the c:\ to the drive of your san disk memory card which could look like d:\crusader and then hit install it will install the game to the memory card instead of your hard drive, now back in the command prompt change the drive from C:\ to your san disk memory card directory example m:\crusader and then play the game, it should work if done right. the reason this works is because your hard is ntsf format and the memory card is fat32, that is alot of times big probs for dos games. now which u need a sound card driver for sound in dos also this trick is for those that don't want 2 dual boot or partioton their hard drive, but by spiltin the hard drive into ntsf/fat32 and installing this game to the fat32 section and plAyin from there instead of the memory card that instead makes this game play perefect as of the loading time. still workin on sound. |

I've deleted the other thread. And tllaml though your help is appreciated I have a few suggestions:
- Don't post topic titles in ALL CAPS, it makes you look like you're shouting and that you’re a moron, regardless of whether you actually are one.
- Punctuation, your poor spelling and grammar aside, that good sir is a painful to read post. Try adding in a couple of paragraphs or something ok.
- If at all possible improve on your spelling a bit, but this is a more minorpoint, focus on the first two.
Thanks. |

*Takes a deep breath*
Don't know where to start here.
Dos isn't FAT32, dos is FAT16.
A recovery CD is certainly NOT the best solution, even if it works for you.
You can NOT get sound through a recovery CD when you have an onboard sound card without possibility to emulate a SB in the bios settings. You can NOT get sound through a recovery CD if you can not set IRQ / DMA for your soundcard.
You can NOT set files / buffers on a recoveryCD when needed.
You can NOT attrib EMS if needed through an recovery CD.
You can NOT disable EMS / XMS if needed on a recovery CD.
....
....
etcetera.....
Using a recovery CD makes your system vulnerable to any spy/ad/mal/whateverware or virus, and please don't say you scanned the files before running the game, the day I find a 100% sure virusdetection method I will be richer than Bill Gates himself, that will be the day.
Here is where I end, it's anyway probably useless to tell you those things.
You see, to solve those problems, that's why there is dosbox, VDMsound, gamemods ...
If those don't work with some recalcitrant games, and if you are a dosgames/W95games adept, install or VPC or VMware, or get yourself an old rig.
Again:it's anyway probably useless to tell you those things, so I let it be.
For those who want to hear it: Don't use a recovery CD to play games. |

| i read what you said and i do agree about not being able to edit anything thats why i made a boot disk. and yes you was right about the fat32 and fat its fat not fat32, and also it works better on a jump drive than a san-disk memory card. The Boot program is finished if i had a place to post for people to try out, some people may not like this program but others would appreciate it i think. the sound will and can work with the right sound card and drivers. so give me a place to put it and then put it down. |

just to explain it alittle i modded and changed the recovery boot program and copied it to a jump drive in fat format and then bootin from that, i have the boot program if anyone is interested in tryin it out but u will need a jump drive, cause you will be booting off it and installing games 2 it, i'm pretty much useing the jump drive as a hard drive. and u can set up sound cards and change config settings, but only for those smart enough, i may be stupid but i didn't need no help from you or some stupid emu program to play my dos games. i never said these was the siliver bulit, but it does work for alot of games that i could never get to work before on my pc.

for anyonethat wants to try out this program, it works no virus or spam just put the files on jump drive and set bios to boot jump drive before hard drive, install crusader/regret and play the game prefect also has built in editer program for the config and autoexec files to modify as you see fit
