when i logged in dismorning all topics on your website were marked as being read including those that ive never seen before (meaning those posted after my last login but before this login) i have only used the link to mark all as read once. this was very annoying to me any help would be appreciated.
i use, ie 6.0sp2, winxp home, direct x 9c, latest updates for o/s.
i keep my cookies, temp. internet files, and cookies well maintained and that is not the issue (well mmore then likely isn't) any help would be appreciated. |

Yes, I have sometimes noticed this.
I think it happens when I open a subforum in a new menu, then go back to the main page. This instantly marks everything read. |

| It has something to do with leaving a window of the site open. I'm not sure what it is exactly but if I leave a tab open in FF connected to the site after a while it'll mark all forums as read and clear out the 'View posts since last visit' menu. I'm really lost as to what causes it as it happens to me on another phpBB based forum I go to yet on another I frequently visit I have no such problems. |

| No it's a phpBB bug franpa, there is a mod to fix it. I know this because this kind of thing on;y happens to me here and on another phpBB based forum, on a 3rd phpBB forum there are no such problems, nor have I ever encountered any such problems on Invision boards, if anything Invision boards suffer from not marking topics as read when you log off. Anyway I frequently chat with the owner and the tech guy of the phpBB forum that doesn’t suffer the problem, next time I do I’ll ask what mod was used to fix the issue and pass the info onto emmzee. |

well the simple solution is not to click log out.
I think its convenient. IF you do turn up to a forum which has so many posts and you dont wish to read them all that are read. Simply logout and then back in.
But in this case it can be annoying at times. |

I never log out. But after my first visit, it would mark 'em all as read.
But now it's not showing the new ones. And I still stay logged on.
It's a bug. |

That doesn’t work, I never log out and topics get marked as read and disappear from the ‘new posts since last visit’ list all the same. |

You gonna love it when I do so, and my youngest gets on the site ...... or even worst, my daughter, who is always in to set things upside down on a site.

Didn't see anything in the update list about it. I've seen it happen a few times on an Invision board too, probably a system glitch, your computer sends the wrong information to the board's server or something.
Yeppers, 2.0.20 is here...this time I gotta manually upgrade. |
