Post subject: Post your favorite little-known bands
Hey all,
Well I figured I'd help get this forum going ... so, everyone post some of their favorite non-mainstream bands ... ie, ones that aren't on the top 30, and you don't hear on MTV/MuchMusic every day.
Probably my favorite band that doesn't get much play is Alkaline Trio. Some good songs by them are Trucks & Trains, Armageddon, Stupid Kid, and Radio. DL them from Kazaa ... it's okay they even encourage it on their site as long as you buy the CD if you like it
Another is (was) the Smoking Popes ... they had a hit song (I Know You Love Me) awhile back. But they have lots of other good songs too, like Megan, Pretty Pathetic, I Need You Around ... the singer Josh Caterer left the band after becoming Christian, he released some gospel songs as well, although so far I've only been to download one ... a prize to whoever can find me any of his other songs I really love the one I have "Why Me"
Many of you probably have already heard of Ozma (mp3s available there) but if you haven't ... they sound like Weezer ... they even opened for Weezer. I like 'em a lot
Okay that's good 'nuff for me ... there's tons more but ... meh that's enough for now.

I have no idea how popular they are (I don't watch MTV (or any other TV station save TechTV, TLC and BBC (it's there somehow, don't ask why) in the past few months, come to think of it) and don't pay attention to the top *foo* lists) but one of my favorite bands is The Deftones. I also like Weird Al Yankovich and System Of a Down but those are both pretty well known. Demonhunter ain't too bad either.

Hmm... I was sure they were well known (and probably are in Europe) but I can't seem to find anyone in the States who listens to Symphony X-probably the most underated bands of all time. I would encourage anyone here to get some of their songs, you'll be hooked after two or three. A good "first" song to listen to would be "Fallen." (I'll have to warn you about that song though, it does have some material in it that could be considered Satanic/Ocultic (the song is about Satan and his fall, his activities in this world present day, and his eventual defeat. It's weird listen to the story told from a non-christian perspective (it's being told by "Satan" persay)))

The Trans-Syberian Orchestra. Not your typical rock music, they do covers of Beethoven with guitar and drums, and other classical music. Only a few of thier songs have lyrics. Probably the best band today.
