| What connection are you using. If you have more than one pc with the internet, use the one with the slower modem. |

I've had excellent luck with a Zoltrix 56k. At an auction 3 years ago I got a pile of modems. all unboxed without manuals. Being a tech, I separated the Winmodems (yuk) from the Hardware modems (yea). In the hardware pile I used obvious baud speed labels into separate piles. The final half dozen unknowns were cut again by chip date; dividing line 1996. The Zoltrix was traced out by looking up the 4 digit number in the corner and the Rockwell chip ID on Google. With a generic Rockwell driver I got the S codes to readout for the manufacturer. From there the Zoltrix sites gave me info. I found it had flash updatable code to V.90 and I did so. Been surfing at 45k-55k ever since. One problem.... it's ISA and resticts my momboard upgrades. It's survived lightning storms and cats discharging on the phone line. Be very unhappy to let this good old guy go someday. |

| Cable. Spelled C-A-B-L-E. Notice how the 'L' comes before the 'E'. |

Yeah, a lot of people are connecting through their college connection, which are T1 or T3.
By the way, there is an "other" option. |
