| Weeee. As you may have guessed, I saw above mentioned title today at my local theater. IMO, this movie was closer to the book, I'm not sure how close for it's been some time since I read the book. Overall, I would recommend this movie. It's pretty good, the acting is phenominal, and the whole look just screams Tim Burton (who is one of my favorite directors). |

| I have to agree with you wally but I'd say he looks more like Michael Jackson. The orginial was good, especially the songs. |

| I liked the first one a lot more--plus that umpa lumpa got creepy after a while and his voice was so high-pitched you couldnt understand half of what he said. |

I was forced to watch the original a couple of years ago at school.
I never fully recovered. |

The original is the BEST!
Best quote from the original:
"Candy is dandy
But Liquor is quicker."

I rented the VCD to watch it and it was quite interesting. My friend who watched it in the cinema told me that they made the cinema room smell of chocolate to add to the atmosphere.

I never got to watch it original so I can't compare it. The original movie on DVD called, "Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" was being sold. I did not want to spend money to buy the costly DVD. However, the orginal book that the movie was based on was called, "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory".
Johhny Depp looked very sinister in the show. I wished that I could see the original (not spend too much to watch it) to see how the Willy Wonka was like. |

| From what I’ve heard the original Willy Wonka was much more eccentric then the one in the remake though I’ve never actually seen the remake myself. |
