Post subject: Discworld II sound setup question? |
|
|
| I've been able to get this game to run on xp using vdsm sound but im having problems with the sound setup. My problem is after installing Discworld II when i go through the sound setup which is located on the cd and try to save the settings i get an error stating sound config could not be saved. I can still play the but since the sounds defaulted to no digital sounds, im unable to change the settings since it wont save are there any possible solutions to fix this? I've tried running the sound setup with and without vdsm but the results are the same. Any help would be appreciated thanks. |

Post subject: Solution Found |

| Well no sooner did i post this question than i found a solution that worked for me at least. I just thought id post this in case any one else encounters a similiar problem. I simply copied the entire contents of cd 1 onto my c drive into a dw2 directory, ran the sound setup with vdsm an was able to save the configuration file that way. |

| Don't worry is going freeware soon so is the first game too and ScummVM will be having them for download of their site so I'd wait to play it on ScummVM then you won't have sound problems |

| First of all wether or not they're freeware has nothing to do with how they work. Secondly, you don't download anything off ScummVM, it’s an emulation program like DOSBox but for old Lucas Arts games. |

You can download Flight Of The Amazon Queen and Beneath A Steel Sky off ScummVM.
Their moving away from LucasArts games and working on other companies adventure games including the Discworld games, Sierras, Adventure softs and many more so that they can play on latest machines. |
