You turned on your computer with the heatsink off and the processor still in the motherboard? Were you using any illicit substances at the time? Shifty

Though I must admit - burning CPU is an interesting aroma...

verry interesting...

Kazer0 inside your CPU probably there are wires that are burnt...

Sorry Not repairable..

I had smoke coming out of a motherboard with no CPU once cause the Bios Got too hot it was like 50 degrees celcius.. IT was terrible.. Im glad it was only 1 of the 5 486 motherboards i have.

Wally, quit acting like you kno things. Not only am I a computer technicion, but I think I can tell what the problem is. And if there were wires bernt, what does it have to do with a motherboard? Last I checked, motherboards didnt have wires.

Not only does a BIOS chip not get hot during operation, but if it were a wire, you could replace the power supply.

Not only do I know that it was the processor, but I think I can tell bu the fact that I had it OPEN, on its SIDE, with NOTHING else in it, and was LOOKING AT IT, pretty much proves that I know it's the processor.

So don't even try and act like you know what your talking about, unless you do.

EDIT: After reading your reply again, it looks like you said "wires in the CPU". What the hell? There are no wires IN the CPU!

I dont know everything either so we are technically equal...

I didn't say I knew everything, and you should find proof in a form I can read. I don't have adobe acrobat, nor the necessary power to run it.

And the definition of 'wires' depends on your own personal definition. I would refer to them as conductors and transistors, not wires and switches.

I'm sorry, but in no way are you equal to me in technical knowhow.

Good thing I fix computers professionally, so that I can be at the same technological level as a 12 year old.

Wow! You can actually make about $9,000 a year as a UNIX network administrator (at least that's what "one of 'em" told me) for the rest of your life!! Way to find a good career! Sarcastic

And I just got back from frolicking by the fountain with the garden dwelling underwear eating gnomes that like pasta! On a more serious note, would you mind if I put that in my sig?
