California Games

Post by Chilly Willy »

I purchased an old 3.5 diskette of California Games recently. The game runs fine but how do you make the female skater move? I know the up and down cursor keys make her move up and down. The space bar makes her jump but beyond that, it's annoying to make her go forward. Anyone played this game recently?

Well, I finally got it to work with a gamepad/joystick. Using the keyboard just is not good for that event.

I recently found how to run this game without the entering your name glitch and running at normal speed.

1.) Insert MS-DOS 5.0 disk into the A: drive.
2.) Start your computer.
3.) No need to install DOS. Just cancel the install. You'll see the A> prompt now.
4.) Take out the MS-DOS disk and insert the California Games disk.
5.) Type "calgames" without the quotes and press Enter.

The game will now run just fine even on newer hardware. CPU runs normal and not at 100% too! Tested on a AMD 4000+ with 2GB and Abit mobo. Sound will play through the eternal speaker if you have one. The Skate or Die game worked just fine too doing this.

Enjoy! ;)
