Well, this is a little DEMO called "RoadRace v1.0". I have a friend who races corvettes and goes to car shows a lot. We only met a handful of times and such, however, he was just too good of a person for me. haha
I still need to have a lot of leeway like drinking sodas and stuffs. haha
Anyways, like the law says "Don't drink and drive!" "Buckle up!" "Click it or ticket!" And such haha

Thank you Jesus you save us all from accidents, theft, and such!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you God for making me do all these cool games (or should I say 'little' DEMOs)? haha |

Haha, great stuff!
There were no other cars on the road though, is that how it's supposed to be? Or did I just set DOSBox to too many cycles? |

Actually, the game by Bill Gates back in the 1980's or so inspired this one.
I saw how simple Bill Gates did his and figured I follow after his footstep.
However I am not famous and rich like Bill Gates. hehe
It is suppose to be one car.
I just wanted something fun and simple like Bill Gates's game Donkey.
I was planning on adding more stuff as time went by.
Thank you Jesus that I am still coming up with stuffs I can do for others#!! |

So far it is nothing much. However my brother always say you have to start from somewhere. hehe Even The Holy Bible says you must start from the very bottom. How much more bottom can I get than freeware work? haha

Bless Jesus then my mom, Huong Thi Vu.
Then Honour to my father, Nguyen Binh Thuy.
Honour to my mom also.
Thank you Jesus I am happy and safe for the remainder of my life#!!
So remember to drive safe.
I think I clocked this car speed at a casual safe speed!!!!!!!!!!!!
You always want enough re-action time just in case kids run out the road. |

Great update
Just one thing I wanted to ask, currently once a key is pressed to move left or right the car will move in that direction until it reaches the side of the road (or the slow down or speed up key is pressed). Is it possible to make it move left or right only while the respective key is pressed? That would allow for greater precision in lateral movement control.
Also, gameplay wise, I was thinking, maybe there would be different parts of the road with different max speed allowed (as in real life), and the player would need to adjust the speed? (The speed signs could be displayed on the side of the screen.) |

Thanks for implementing my suggestions!
What I had in mind that maybe there would be a sidebar of sorts, to display current speed and the required speed limit. When the speed signs just pass by it's a bit hard to take note (or maybe I should just reduce the amount of cycles?).
Anyway, thanks again for the improvements! |

That is a bit harder to do since I would have to be rendering all the text in graphics mode. However, give me some time and I'm sure I could get your next request in.
I just got done putting the cabinet doors on. So I am a bit tired right now. Thank you Jesus that the house is finish for the remainder of my life#!! |

Well, I looked at my coding a bit and found out to my surprise that the hard work I did in the beginning is now paying off. The coding turned out to be rather easy. I was not sure if this was what you are looking for since I am not in your shoes, but I did the best I could trying to have the same point of view. Thank you for the suggestions/feedbacks/and such. The game has improved quite a long ways since its first conception.
Thank you Jesus I am able to earn a living doing what I have always wanted now and provide for all my families!!!!!!!!!!!! I still cannot believe I am a game developer. I never thought I could be one. Growing up it was out of my reach.

Speed limit and accident laws enforced in this edition.
DOSBox-specific version (may also work with DOS):
http://www.mediafire.com/download/iw5b2wx4cntg7r1/RACE_V12.EXE
Source code (written in Borland Turbo C 2.01 and Borland Turbo Assembler 4.1):
http://www.mediafire.com/view/dt9dbml6pa1tmci/race_v12.c
Although the car can go 92 miles per hour, if the speed sign reaches you and you still are travelling faster than the speed limit, then your license is suspended.
However if you get into a car accident while going under the speed limit, you should be able to drive again given that you take enough driving lessons to prove your competence.
If you quit (Q-key press) while you are ahead, it is like parking at home in your garage or drive way. You still have a perfect car intact, and earn the priviledge to be a safe driver!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like the laws say "Buckle up!" This just means wear your seat-belts, please. I once got into an accident and it saved my life.
Thank you Jesus#!! |

It is just a little creation that I am able to manage thank you to Jesus! Since it is the weekend, I am relaxing a bit. I might have something more by Monday since the next part I am planning is more tedious. So nothing complicated, just a lot of little work in the graphics mode. |

I LIKE IT! This one is well done; I like the little mph sign post... that's a nice touch. How about an oil slick and / or an oncomming obstacle to dodge? Having a policeman stop you in either a car or perhaps a still graphic would be cool too.
Great work. |

Here in this edition, there is a little bitmap of a police car that pulled over the formula one race car. You may not know it however I know at least one police car that looks "innocent" and really goes two hundred or more miles per hour. It has nitrous oxide in it. So if you think you can outrun a police officer, be careful they may surprise you!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Jesus my racing days are over#!! I am too old for that now. haha |

This one has a little animation in it when you are pulled over so you just watch the show until the end. I'm sorry it is so little at this point in time. Thank you for checking out my game and I hope you enjoy.
The download link is the same however it has been updated. |

This is a pretty cool addition, I love it! After all, little details like this is what makes a great game eventually. |
