Well, you know that in some space galactic galaxy games that there are these stars flying past you? Well, I am experimenting and trying to make it on my own. To my heart's desire and delight, it looks pretty good! hehe

Fortunately, it looks more like a grid than a boring starfields. haha j/k (Just Kidding). I'm not that good at making these special affects so I am improvising. That is like a pickup line - I don't have any haha

So far it is in its rough draft.

As you can see from the game it is still majorly glitchy.

The funny thing is it probably looks more like rain or runway than starfields!

haha

Okay, this is my major update to my very own version of "starfields"!

I originally saw "starfields" on a Microsoft Windows Screensaver.

Currently, I am working on a little version of it.

It is not even close to matching what the stars look like!

However for affects and the dizziness of it all! haha

I hate advertising for any of the controllers!!!!!!!!!!!!

I feel you should be able to download and use for FREE.

However, the controllers does make it more "convenient".

So it is made especially tested with:

(1) Microsoft XBOX360 USB controller.
(2) SONY PSone with USB adapter controller.

However if you want to actually try it out and even use it FREE,
just use the WASD keys for movements. The other ship uses JKLI.
The spacebar shoots both beacons!!!!!

Well, today I have a major breakthrough!

I have managed to figure out the secret algorithm for "starfields".

Of course, I believe in my blessing so I owe it to the grace of Heaven.

Thank you to Mary who gave birth to Cheese-its & Rice, "Thank you always now!"

Looking cool!

Actually, if I can shoot the bad guy, if I can go faster/slower (even just two speeds, or slow for two seconds then fast if I keep holding the direction down like River Raid), and if I can die when the badguy hits me, I think that's a minimal viable complete game! Some more polish after that of course, but you're getting really close to something more like "game" than "demo". Nice work. Happy

I noticed sometimes the stars "stop". Probably when a ship flies over them? They were stuck until another star came down the same row. But very cool! Not a problem, just a small bug report, maybe not worth fixing.

Two ways to do the hit test, either figure out if the actual pixels overlap, or just figure out if the rectangles overlap - close enough to start with! "Do rectangles intersect" should be an easy algorithm to find if you don't already have it memorized. Cool

That is a lot to ask for from a small time brand new developer! However I think it is reasonable from my point of view. I believe I am able to handle those requests. How much time is needed I cannot guarantee.

If you feel it is getting close to a real game and not just a little demo then it is because of Cheese-its & Rice!

If you feel it is any good at all it is because of God who sent Cheese-its & Rice to save just me! I know I am the only person who needs to be saved.

It is tough being a loner. It takes a special person to be by my side. My mother is always my mother. She is my flesh and blood. My true family are very special! They chose to stick with me through thick and thin. Not everyone can say that.

Many people will walk away from someone when they are worthless. However, if you are rich and have status many people like you!

That is understandable. Who would want the crap of society? hehe

What I am saying is my programming is not worth anything compared to Doctors who saves lives!

Anyways, I am getting a little off topic. To get back to the main point, I am planning on trying to get the points you listed to work; However please have patience to see what I am able to do. There is no guarantee however maybe Christmas!

"Maybe by Christmas it is a game?" - just a nobody

I remember wanting a small meal when I was homeless. It was not much; However every Sunday this church people would serve a hot bowl of chicken soup. At the very end after we prayed and eat, there was this person who always gave a cookie that had a finishing touch and said "God is good!"

So I know I am not doing anything near as beautiful as those people, however I hope fulfilling most if not all the requirements of your "feedbacks" is good enough for now! I hope to be able to say "God is good!" as all the people are happy going home with the game.

Anyways here is the updated game with what is requested so far!

Well, you asked for it!

So here it is............ The right button should give you a toggle between slow and fast ship speed!

Push the left or right button to go slow. Push it again to go fast.

The top and bottom buttons fires.

The vertical speed currently remains constant.

If your missile hits the enemy ship, it disappears until you reload the game.
[Q-quits the game.]

If the enemy missile hits one or both of your ship, the respective ship(s) is/are gone.

The last ship or ships remaining lives forever!

As the mini-series say on Highlander, "There can only be one!" haha

I am so silly.

P.S. The stars being stuck is also fixed in this edition!

Quadko,

You have been a big help. I could not have gotten so much done without you. My game would have been a joke if it were not for the joystick routine and the gamepad suggestions!

I might not have gotten this to be a little game if it were not for your suggestions here and everywhere else. Although there are probably tons of other options and features possible this seems like it is starting to be something.

Also to DOS Wolf, "Thank you for suggesting a game in the first place."

There are so many people I would like to thank!

I am grateful to Cheese-its & Rice for Wally too. haha (friends forever)

Well, here is the latest update for those who are using pure keys!

WASD - one of the spaceship
JKLI - the other spaceship
spacebar - fires
0 (zero) - slowest speed for both ships
1 - medium speed for both ships
2 - kinda fast speed jump for both ships

Q - quit game.

So if you press the number 2 key it should make your spaceship jump faster.

If you press one of the letters W, A, S, D or such it should move ship(s).

The Microsoft XBOX360 controller is really nice to play with using buttons.
The SONY PSone is also a good controller to have with the USB adapter.

It is a bonafide miracle that I am at the point in my game creation where keeping the top 12 scores or so is finally necessary!

O-it's gonna be a bit of a work in progress.

I hate doing this part of the job. haha

However I cannot complain.

I collect welfare and get what I need for FREE.

So it is only fair I make the game for free so others can enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, hehe

I am a dork. hehe

I am trying to be unique!

I hate doing the high score.

It is really hard.

However I got part of the section completed.

I just have to shift the high scores in place to the top position!

That is the hardest part however I always like to do things my way haha

I hate learning though.

Always trying to do my own routine.

Makes it unique that way.

Did you know some jewelers boasts handmade one of a kind pieces?hehe

Well, as you can see from my little game it is similar to other galaxy game

O-well, at least I did the game my way haha

************

The brings me to the topic of the high score system............

Well I will maybe talk about that next time?

http://www.mediafire.com/download/qgy0paen8oc3hy1/TEMP.EXE

Well, I finally finished a rough saveable scoring system.

It writes the scores to a file called, "DATAFILE.TXT".

So if you wanted to cheat you can edit that file haha

I tried to edit the file however it would not read the cheatmode when I did.

However it read it fine when you are playing "fair" so far haha

Anyways, I am finally recovering from my tired state of mind.

My mother just got me a double whopper, fries, and vietnamese desert. yum

O- I totally needed that Sprite soda haha

Anyways, I hope you are having fun whether with my silly game(s) or with all the other cool ones out there that totally blows mine away!!!!!!!!!!!!
