I think the 256mb RAM would be a good bet to upgrade for XP. What's the max CPU you can use? That would be the other place if you can. And of course you could excoriate that Windows virus.....

You need more MHzs!

...there was fun."

Upgrade your memory to 512mb or more. The rest of the system is pretty old if your going to upgrade then upgrade to a completely new computer and sell/find other uses for the old one.

If your not a gamer (newer games) then just do the memory thing and your fine

The sound card (unless that card is PCI).

Windows Xp Professional
Windows XP is so awful, it is incompatible with the older stuff, it has a horrible layout, the littel thing that tells you not to look in your c drive, and so much more. I love 98 se becuase its very compatible, great layout, not bloated like the futrure versions, but it has terrible stabilty. Or you can go wth Link but you have to be very good with computers to get linux how you want it (configure wine, ect). If you go with linux get Debian or Fadora (spelling?).

You need at least dos 6.2 - dos 3.0 just doesn't hack it anymore.

Freedos/opendos or even dr dos if you are slightly more adventurous
