Strange alien blob game

Post by wolfanotaku »

Hi there,

I have a weird old dos game that I am looking for. I have had a heck of a time finding it. Here's what I know:

It was part of a 200 in 1 CD that ran a blue menu in DOS and when you selected your game some of them installed and some of them ran right off the CD. I had this when I was a kid in middle school so 1996ish, but the CD may be a little older then that because some of the games were really cheap (as was the case with most 200 in 1 CDs).

The game put you in control of a strange looking green blob and it was really difficult to control. When you first pushed an arrow you moved slowly but you gained momentum very fast and you couldn't touch the walls so moving was all about controlling your speed. You had to puzzle you way through these mazes that looked kind of spacey.

The one thing that I remember distinctly is that the game's help txt file came with a story about how the author was given the game by aliens and it was part of them teaching him how to use their technology. He used the story to lampshade the controls by saying that the blob was so hard to control because a person gets frustrated and messes with the vibrations.

It's driving me nuts because of all the people I've talked to no one has any idea what I'm talking about!

Sounds like one of the "Tommy's Toys" games, I don't remember much about them but here is the Mobygames page about the "company" (ie, one dude using Quickbasic):

"Tommy's Toys - Programmed by Aliens from Outer Space"
http://www.mobygames.com/company/tommys-toys

Unfortunately the old websites are long gone by now, but you may be able to find the one you're looking for using Mobygames, or maybe using archive.org to view the old websites:

Thanks for the reply. I looked through all of the screen shots for those games and none of them were it, sadly. :-(
