Post subject: Anyway to get a VESA-game work under Windows 2000? |
|
|
I wanted to play Settlers 2, but no...
1. First it complains about COM2-port
2. Then it compained about CD-ROM not being in (it was)
Well, I fixed those... kind of...
But when I go forward:
VESA driver not found!
And the executable goes passive... *sigh*
Any help? |

| Yeah, I'm trying to get Wing Commander 4 or Toonstruck to work in Windows 2000 Pro, but they all just can't get the VESA to work either (or the sound for that matter). Darn annoying. Hopefully somebody will know what to do. |

| VESA is Super VGA standard for DOS. You must get a DOS driver to your cards (from maker's sites) or buy a Windows compatible VESA card. |

| Windows 2k doesnt let software directly interface with the hardware, which is what the VESA driver is trying to do. Win 9x should work fine. I believe that most newer era cards are VESA compliant |
