Doom is one of, if not THE favourite game of mine. I still make wads for it, and the Doom community is still thriving after all these years. I participate in Doom projects and make maps and everything. Zdoom owns.

I would like Duke 3D a hell of a lot more if it was based on the original real Duke and not completely re-designed and everything.

DOOM ownz!!! It has much better gameplay, and you live longer (d3d, two shells and ur dead). Plus, the levels are much more fun and there are quite a lot of editors out there, and many mods.

o yea... i forgot to post. I voted doom. Sure the graphics sucked, and sure the sound wasn't 100%... but do you know anybody who had a computer that hasn't EVER once played DOOM? Come on... the only games more classic than that are pac-man and SMB1

What was wrong with the sound?

it wasn't top of the line, but it was still pretty good. It sure beat PC speaker which was still rather popular at the time.

Doom 2 with a gravis ultrasound max sounds real good to me, soundblaster pro 2.0 isnt that bad (for 8 bit sound)

Yeah, the sound's pretty good. There isn't much you can do to improve on that, except maybe soundcard compatibility.

There was something I didn't like about Duke3D- Probably the fact that it has no music and the sounds aren't good. Plus, like I've said, D3D doesn't have noticeable Source Ports, like jDOOM or DOOM Legacy.

I loved playing both, but I think DOOM will always be my favorite. I just spent a lot more time with it ... I remember getting a call from a friend telling me that it was out, then waiting all day to download it (after having to restart several times because the download stopped!) on our 14.4 (or possibly 9600 I can't recall) modem ... had to tie up the phone line for most of the day to download that sucker. And then when I finally ran it, it was laggy on my old comp. Sarcastic Hehehe
